My 10-year-old nephew. He loves Star Wars, Lego, and Captain Underpants books but I am tired of buying those things. I swear, we've bought Star Wars or Lego OR Star Wars Lego items for the last 4 Christmases and birthdays. And I know it's good to buy what someone likes, but he can't possibly appreciate more LEgo bricks at this point. There are massive bins of the things all over the house. He might as well live at the Lego store. We need to branch out.
I've seen nice, hardcover Lego books (like references books I think?) would he like something like that?
Science experiment books? Lego board game? Ripleys believe it or not book? Guiness book of world records?
Order her some food from Katz!! It's gluten free and probably some of the best gf food I've ever had (I have Celiac and so do two of my kids). I just placed a big order and got a 35% off link. Happy to give it to you if you'd like 😀
That looks amazing! I love giving consumable gifts. Would love the 35% off link, thank you!
here you go! I'm on my phone so can't hyperlink it
91yo grandmother. She expects a good present this year, wink wink nudge nudge, (because we're making money hand over fist now with my new job) in addition to the usual framed pictures and handmade ornaments. For the record, good is about $50 So far all I've come up with is maybe a jar opener.

What is she interested in and what is her lifestyle like?
My mom. She is 80, does not drink alcohol, coffee or tea, was recently diagnosed as diabetic (so no sweets), and is working on decluttering her house, so no "stuff." She doesn't have a lot of extra money, but generally buys whatever she wants. She has a Kindle and an Iphone, but that is the limit of her techiness.
The last few years I have done gift cards to buy clothes and to restaurants she likes. I wanted to buy her an Ancestry DNA kit (what we are getting MIL), then I realized that she cannot spit into a vial - her saliva glands were dried out by radiation during cancer treatment in the 80's. That would have been really embarrassing.
Maybe. He said she likes coffee, feminism, and Detroit.
Oh, I thought I had the perfect gift for someone who loves Detroit, but the only thing within the price range is playing cards. The Shinola Detroit candle is $48 and everything else is way more $$$. www.shinola.com/stocking-stuffers/playing-cards.html
My sister. She's 29, has 2 kids (4 and 2), works full time but wants to be a SAHM. She doesn't have any hobbies. She basically works and takes care of her kids (my BIL is a lazy SOB).
My budget is small $35, so that's complicating things. I would totally get her a massage or something if I could afford it...

Any ideas!
A box of nice sugar free chocolates. My mom loves this gift because she won't spend the money to buy herself chocolates.

Her lifestyle these days is mostly sitting in her recliner, watching TV and checking up on family on Facebook with her iPad. She likes history books about Canada and Nova Scotia. She really liked "the Book of Negroes", for example. She's been kind of sick lately (really bad pneumonia last winter) and still recovering so doesn't get out much.

This is a bit over budget but for my grandma last year we went in with my mom and got her a Nixplay frame. It went over well

So in the past I never got her one of these because she'd have to figure out how to use it herself, but the fact that I could update it remotely with new pictures is kind of awesome. Might have to talk budget with DH...

Yes! My grandma loves that she can just turn the power on and find new pictures.

Have you tried looking around the made in Michigan stores at Partridge Creek or Somerset? That's where I always wind up buying something when I want a gift that is Detroit related but I have no idea what I want. I bet you could get a fun mug there.
hermione how about an external charger for her phone? My students negotiate who gets to use the one outlet in a classroom every class. I could see something like that being useful. I have an Anker (they're a bit more expensive) and a few of my students have Zag chargers.
