We're going strong on almost 10 years here and it's been our only base so, um, here.

But I'll cheat too and say Okinawa. The distance would be amazing. H's current MOS doesn't exist there as a permanent party station though. He spent 4 years there, and I'm jealous.

It's very likely H will remain here his entire career as B billets for his MOS can be very rare.

ETA: The isolation making for great friendships is what H said about Oki. That's the one thing I don't like because I don't want my friendships limited to spouses. But I feel like I'd get a lot of chance to travel in SE Asia, and I'd be down.

I've met about 6-8 ppl who put Oki on their orders again and couldn't wait to get back. TBH I never thought it would be such an hot spot... I dunno why. People have said island fever hits ever once and a while but they have a ton of Space A options.

We love it where we are now. The people overall have been awesome and there is enough to do to keep you out of trouble. I've heard horror stories of base housing but we dodge that bullet and never lived there. (Horror = mold, poisonous spiders, houses literally falling apart etc.).

We both have only ever been here (minus his schooling, I didn't go to any of those), but we really really like it here. If he doesn't stay in we will probably settle somewhere around here or Savannah. I love pretty much everything about this area.
