We were there in November and had great meals at cafe orleans (dinner, outside by the walkway), the plaza (inside for character breakfast) and Carthay circle (world of color lunch package).
It was one of the best, most relaxed character meals - we got there right at opening. Food was great at all.
We also loved our nachos from whitewater snacks at the grand, sandwiches at earl of sandwich & at jazz kitchen express (?). I'm trying to remember what else we ate! There were seriously so many things I didn't even get to try that I had wanted to - cozy cones stuff in Carsland & the skewers in adventure land.

Go to the Disneyland webpage. They have all of the dining options on there.
Some of my favorites foods -the fried pickles at Carnation Cafe -Garlic twist at Maurices -Light Side Lemonade at the Galactic Grill -Dole Whip Floats at the Tiki Hut -Corn dogs on Main Street
The Blue Bayou has a great atmosphere but if you want to have the Monte Cristo they only serve it at lunch. You will need reservations if you want to eat there. You can also get the Monte Cristo (and the all cheese version) at Cafe Orleans all day.
Carthay Circle is great for the WOC dining package. They have the best menu on property (Napa Rose has the 2nd best!).
Character meals are mostly breakfast. Goofy's kitchen has the most options for food. Storyteller's Cafe has the best french toast. Plaza Inn can get hectic and the menu is limited but they do have biscuits and gravy and a decent amount of characters. Haven't done Ariel's Grotto yet so no feedback. It has been years since I've done the buffet at Paradise Pier but it was okay when we last did it.
