I've been. It is definitely geared towards the younger kids. There are some rides that are kid only and the water park is designed for the toddler set so your youngest would definitely have a blast if you did the water park.
It is expensive but you can usually find some type of BOGO (buy an adult get the kids for free) deal.

It's ok in my opinion for the same single day price I'd rather go to Disneyland. A lot of the rides H couldn't do at legoland that he could do as disney but check the height requirements. I have heard great things about the waterpark. But Carlsbad is beautiful and has great beaches. San Diego is about 30-45 mins south also very kid friendly zoo safari park
We just went last week. DEFINITELY for younger kids. I figure kids will age out of it around 8 or 9, possibly sooner? Most of the rides are either older or short (the one roller coaster we went on ran everyone through the ride twice to make it longer). Also, we felt like it's showing its age a bit. We've only ever done Disney and Six Flags parks, so it felt a little shabby and not as "kept up" in comparison. A lot of the displays and statues were showing fading and water damage, lots of things were closed or removed for repair, and some things we tried were just flat out broken (push a button and nothing happens, etc). But the food options seem a lot healthier, so that was nice. And the aquarium is small, but fun (we had a special holiday ticket that got us admittance for both for less than the LEGOLAND single-day ticket). The water park was closed for the season, so we didn't get to do that part.

I would love to go stay on the beach in Carlsbad and do a day or two at Legoland! We'd have to stop at Disneyland too lol. Disneyworld was actually a bit too much for me, too big, but I think Disneyland sounds like a way better size.

The major downside to Legoland is that it always looks a bit rundown
Has anyone been and is it worth going to? What are good ages for it?
My DD (4.5) loves Legos and has started asking to go, but I don't want to go until my younger DS (17 months) could enjoy it too.
Not sure of you already went, but we took our then almost 5yo and 14 month old and they both had a blast. We went to the one in Orlando and at the time, Costco was offering half off the ticket prices. I think they are offering the same deal for the CA one right now.
Thanks, we haven't gone yet. It looks like we won't be going until summer 2018, so it sounds like they will still be good ages at 6 and almost 3! That's good to know about Costco, I always forget to look their for discount tickets.

There is also a Costco right across the street from Legoland and the Costcos in San Diego tend to have local deals that you can only get in store.
