We are heading to Disney Tuesday with our soon to be 19 month old. If you have taken one close in age what did their favorite rides, characters, things to do end up being?
He hasn't been to any type of park like this before aside from Universal when he was 6 months so this will be new for all of us. I have set the bar very low for his participation and patience but am really looking forward to seeing how exciting all the new surroundings will be
DS2 was 18 months the first time he went. Hands down his favorite ride was Dumbo, he cracked up the whole time and when he saw the ride again he started jumping and clapping. He wasn't a fan of any characters at that age, he was ok with the princesses though. He also danced and clapped and had a lot of fun at Disney Jr live on stage.
Ours went at 15 months and again at 26 months. Favorites included seeing mickey and belle. For rides they really enjoyed small world, dumbo and haunted mansion (i know...cute little weirdos). Mostly they liked splashing in puddles, eating too much ice cream and mickey balloons.
Low expectations is good--remember, he won't know if you miss anything, so just enjoy the things you DO get to do and have fun together. :0)

We just got back from Disneyland with E who is about 22.5 months, so older but still a toddler. He enjoyed the kid rides but mostly the ones that weren't so dark. He napped in the stroller really well. He liked meeting Mickey, plus watching the Jedi training show ("Vader! Vader!"). Oh and the birds in the tiki room!
He got worn out pretty easily so we did a few kid rides first, let him nap and did adult rides (my parents and sister were with us, my mom doesn't go on a lot of rides) or my mom fed him while we were on rides, then went back to more kid things. Some of the characters freaked him out a bit but he was mostly ok.
DS was 20 months and LOVED the characters, the Dumbo ride, the Aladdin Magic Carpet, and the Triceratops Spin (they are all basically the same ride). He also loved monorail, boat and parking lot tram rides. But he enjoyed pretty much everything!

Took my son at 18 months and it was one of my favorite trips. No plans, we just went and did things. He had no expecations obviously, so everything was fun for him. He liked meeting characters.
At 18 months, hated characters but loved all the rides we took her on...things that she was definitely more frightened of at age 4 like Pirates and the Haunted Mansion. She liked the parades a lot too.
People Mover! (in Magic Kingdom) it's nice because you get to sit down and when we were there, there was never a long line for it, we just walked on, so if you want to do something to kill 20 minutes, do that. I think we did it 5 times, lol.

I'm hoping he likes haunted mansion that's my favorite! That's a long ride if he fees out on ha.

We just took our son at 18 months and he liked Small World and Dumbo. At Epcot he liked the Nemo ride and Spaceship Earth. He was happy but seemed overwhelmed on Frozen Ever After. Honestly I think his favorite thing to do was eat food.
One of the most difficult things was him wanting to run around, which I would not have minded, but he is oblivious to other people and would walk directly in front of them and be generally in the way, lol. So we kept him in the stroller a lot.

DD loved small world. She also loved the little play area underneath splash mountain, I think it's called "the laughing place" and it was by far her favorite thing at any of the parks.
Took 15 month old twins who weren't really walking well at the time (so we didn't do play areas). They rode tea cups, the Ariel ride, Winnie the Pooh ride, Dumbo and Peter Pan at MK. They did fine on all of them. I guess Dumbo was their favorite. They also rode the Great Movie Ride at HS (some of the things scared one but not the other). I usually had one of them sit next to me (and one next to H), and held on to them tightly. The only time we held them on our laps was the Movie Ride.
Random question but do I hold him on the rides or does he have to sit next to me in seat? For example Peter Pan or the Pooh ride?
Depends on the ride but he sat next to us most of the time. Usually between H and I if there was room. I made sure to hang on to him in some way just to make sure he didn't randomly slide off the seat or get up or something. He could have sat on our laps I think on some rides but it depended on how the seat belt/bar was and if the ride was a little bumpy or something where they wanted him sitting next to us.
