Once you connect your tickets to your MDE account w/ your reservations, I think the new bands ship? Or maybe even w/o the tickets since you use magic bands to get in the rooms, too.

They also serve as a room ticket? OMG, I am so happy I booked onsite. One less thing to keep track of.SaveSave
We got new Magic Bands as part of our package but when I logged onto MDE it showed my old Magic Bands as still linked to my account. They just introduced new Magic Bands but I'm sure you can use old ones too if you aren't getting new ones.

oh goodness, yes! They do EVERYTHING for you. Get you on the Magical Express from the airport (so pack them in your carry on). Get you in your room, into the park(s), and you can charge stuff to them. I take my band and ID and maybe $20 cash with me to the parks.
Once you set up your My Disney Exprience and hook your reservation in there, there will be an area for the magic bands and you can pick your color and what name you want on it. Then they ship them to you.
I think my oldest magic band is from 2014, so no help there.
From what I understand, the battery dies after a couple/few years, but the rfid chip should still work at the park entrance, to open doors, etc., as long as it is registered to your account. The battery is what makes it work for distance things like the mine train video or table delivery at BOG.
I guess I am a 'crazy Disney person'...I decorate my magic bands and I wear several at one time.

Welcome! If you are staying on site they will send you new ones. You can go into your MDE account and tell them what name to put on them and pick a color for each person.

All of our old tickets/bands are linked. You still get new ones. We just ordered ours yesterday. The site still shows the old bands, but I'm reading the new ones are what's being shipped.
From what I understand, old bands should work for park and room entrance, but the ride photos, etc might not due to battery life. IMO, it's better to be safe than sorry and get new ones, OP. Save

Are they free? The flights + hotel were booked brought Travelocity.

I haven't booked park tickets yet.
If you stay onsite they are included in the cost of your room. Do you have a mydisneyexperience account set up, yet? There is where you can link your room, tickets, and make your ADR's and fast pass selections and where you will be able to customize and pick out your bands. SaveSave

I have a Disney login which must be the same as I've been using it for years for cruises and FP last time. I will log in and see if I can figure out how it knows I booked through Travelocity. I've not had a magic band and stayed onsite before.

I think you need to link your reservation from Travelocity. Log into the disney website, then go to the right and choose the drop down menu for my disney experience. Choose "my reservations". If it isn't automatically linked, follow the prompts to link a reservation, trying the confirmation number from Travelocity.

I also think you need to purchase ( and possibly link, if you're not getting them direct from Disney) your tickets in order to make fast pass reservations at the 60 day mark.

Just realized this. I will have to sit down later and decide what we want for tickets. Then I can link everything.

The magic bands are EVERYTHING. they serve as your room key, your CC (essentially), your entry into the parks, your entry for FPs, etc. They are awesome.
Once you link your reservation to your MDE account, you should be able to customize your MB and then they'll ship. Disney will email you when they ship.
