$12/hour for ds (he's almost 4), we live in hcol SoCal and this is the going rate in our neighborhood
She's a college student and helps us when she's on break and home from school-we use her for date nights and occasional events like weddings/concerts/work parties

We pay $13 an hour for two kids ages 6 and 9.
The rate is set by our sitter agency. I call and tell them when I need a sitter, they send someone background-checked. Sometimes we get repeats, sometimes they're new people. We hired a PT nanny through them and she was awesome (recent college grad, couldn't find a job in her field) -- we've since used both her and her younger sister for summer care and date-nights (you can request a certain sitter if you want, or request not to be paired with sitters you don't mesh with; we've only had that happen once and we've used them for, I dunno, like seven years now?).
We even had our former nanny do an overnight with our kids so we could have a night away for our 10th anniversary. Since we have no in-state family, having a reliable source for sitters is really important for us.
She's a master's student at the school DH and I are alumni of. She has prior babysitting experience and has worked in a nursery.
We posted an ad on the student job board for the University.
FWIW, we live in Denver, so M+COL.
eta: litebright, can you PM me the name of the sitter agency? Our current sitter is out of state for an internship for the next couple months and it would be nice to have a backup option anyway. We may be looking for a nanny at the end of the year too.

$10-15 depending on who we use.
BS 1- is a married mom of a newborn. She was Allie's pre-k teacher. We ran into her shortly after Myles was born and she offered her services. Now that she has a baby she doesn't watch kids as much. She charges $10 for both kids. We typically give more.
BS 2- is 18 and the sister to Allie's friend. She charged $8, but we pay 10.
BS 3- is 17 HS senior in honor classes and it beyond amazing. She charges $15 for both kids or $10 for one. We rarely use her because she's always booked.

(1) How much do you pay per hour of babysitting? (2) Describe your babysitter(s) (age, child care background, etc.) (3) How did you find your babysitter(s)?
1. We pay $10 per hour. We were paying $15 but found a cheaper sitter. 2. First sitter was 22-25 when we used her. We have two current sitters, one 17 and one 19. No background in child care, all with experience babysitting. 3. The first sitter was the daughter of my former boss. The 17 year old is the daughter of a neighbor. The 19 year old was my older son's gymnastic coach.
the old lady's friend rock-ell is our regular babysitter and we kick her down $15/hour, which is pretty good since she's usually here just before the bean goes to bed and just has to be a body in the house while she's asleep. but we're going to lose her soon as she's getting married and moving to virginia. BOO.

I had my oldest and youngest 8 years apart so I wouldn't have to pay for babysitting 😉 our old babysitter before C was old enough to sit charged a flat rate of something ridiculous of $5 an hour for 3 kids. I always paid her more. When C sits for other kids she takes whatever the parents give her, usually between $20-$40 for a few hours.
If you cannot see the poll, please answer these questions:
Important (IMO) to note I have 2 children, ages 5 and 8. They get along and are well behaved. They go to bed easily. They love having babysitters and I expect the babysitter to play games, interact with them while awake. I also expect my house to be in the same (or better) condition as I left. Dishes in dw or sink, games back in boxes etc.
(1) How much do you pay per hour of babysitting? $10/hr and I will round up so it usually ends up being maybe $12/hr. (2) Describe your babysitter(s) (age, child care background, etc.) Range from 14 years old to college. I'm not picky- can you keep my kids alive? Won't burn my house down? Enjoy children? Then we are good to go. (3) How did you find your babysitter(s)? Any way I can. Recs, NextDoor App....
I pay $10/hr for the high school and college girls and then $11-12/hr for our adult babysitter.
We found the high schooler through NextDoor, the adult through Care.com, and then the college girls are my hair dresser's daughter and her daughter's friends. Any time one of them can't do it and I'm really in a pinch, I'll ask them to give me the info for one of their friends.
We pay somewhere near $20 per hour. Ours is a family friend from church. She is formerly a preschool teacher and currently a kindergarten teacher's assistant. The kids love her and she is great with them. She doesn't just turn on the TV. And she drives herself to and from my house. We go out so rarely that it's totally worth it to me. My kids are 4 and 6.
$15/hour seems to be the going rate around here, its either been girls from their daycare center, or for a while a college intern from my Hs office who is great with them but now is travelling for a while.
When we used the neighbors teenage daughter (she was 17) she asked for $10/hour the couple of times she took care of them, but then she went away to college.
I think an actual nanny would charge $20/hour around here.

1. $10 per hour for 4 kids ranging in age from 5-11. 2. We have two sitters, both high school sophomores. They both volunteer a lot with kids (girl scouts, church nursery, etc.) 3. One is a neighbor and the other is from our church.

Still can't believe she's already getting married!

$10 for one kid and $12 for two is the going rate here. So far I've only ever used a mom I know who is nice and broke and I rounded up to more like $15 but it's only been one or two hours at a time. I have contact infor for a college girl and a grandma who would both charge $12.
We have a regular babysitter who picks M up from daycare every Wednesday and Thursday during the school year (I have lab on those days and can't get home in time for DC pickup). She watches him W/Th 4-7 pm. We pay her $14/hour because if we get home before 7 pm, she does light housework (folding laundry, prepping dinner, etc.) She is a senior in college who has a good bit of babysitting experience. She is WONDERFUL with M and I am sad to see her graduate this year! I taught her in her first year of college, and she responded to my job listing on the university job board.
(1) How much do you pay per hour of babysitting? $15 but round up usually. This for 2 kids, 4yo and 1 1/2yo (2) Describe your babysitter(s) (age, child care background, etc.) she is 21, a part time day care teacher and is in college (3) How did you find your babysitter(s)? She is a daycare teacher, I friended her on facebook then asked her in a private message
I was paying $20 minimum, but more like $10/hr for a 15 year old freshman. Her mom asked me privately to pay her less, like $5-7/hr since it was too much.
(1) We have two babysitters we use regularly. We pay one of them $20/hr and the other $25/hr. (2) The babysitters are mid tp late 20s. One of them is in grad school and does babysitting on the side. She has done after school care for 2 kids for the last three years and has worked as a nanny during summers for the last 5 years. The more expensive babysitter has worked as a full time nanny for the last 8 years and does babysitting on the side. (3) We found the student through care.com. We had a babysitter we loved and had used for several years. A little over a year ago she moved out of state and highly recommended the other babysitter.
