The folks I work with are making me rethink all of my preconceived notions about the German people.
I just learned that the Oakland Museum of CA has an exhibit for the Black Panther's 50th. It goes through most of Feb. I'm really hoping I can get out to this. I dunno how I missed it's introduction. There's also a sneaker exhibit that I'm curious about.

If Twitter is an indication, you're far from alone on this.

My house is still on the mend from the clinging on flu. Just the cough and the lasting feeling of a need to clear your throat. Any remedies that you know of besides honey lemon tea?
Other than that, I'm feeling restless. I can't quite pinpoint why. My job has turned up the stress. My normally super cool boss has become anxious and its trickling down. So, I signed up for a free month of career coaching through my alumni program to see if that will help. If nothing else, I'll update my resume ??

Ugh so many people are sick. Sorry your family is suffering. Honey tea is a good option. I hope you feel better soon.
We had this mandatory patient safety training thing today.
There was also this very short segment about unconscious bias thrown in. One of the doctors raised his hand and essentially questioned the example they gave.
If looks could kill, he would be dead from the looks I was giving him. Just when I feel like I let my guard down for a few hours, white people foolishness rears it head again multiple times per day.
It was mostly about "patient experience" and how we interact with and care for patients on a personal level. But they threw in these examples All these scenarios took place in the ED: First one - young white male patient and the ED doc comes in and essentially says "you have back pain, we're going to give you some narcotic pain meds and you should follow up with your doctor" and said it nicely. Second one - it was an elderly lady and the ED doc completely ignores her and talks to her family member Third one - young black male patient and the ED doc comes in and essentially says "you have back pain, I'm only going to give you tylenol and go to the city clinic" and said it more in a lecture/not nice way.
So it was trying to point out how with the black guy they thought he was drug seeking and assumed he went to the city clinic and didn't have a doctor, getting completely different treatment than the first white guy with the same problem.
So the doctor in the audience raised his hand and was like "I don't get it, we don't even know what the diagnosis was, so maybe giving the 3rd guy example tylenol was ok." The person leading the thing kind of just shook her head and tried to explain, but he still wasn't having it or getting it.

I'm livid for you! Willfully ignoring the blatant example? Ugh.

What an idiot. That's the whole point of the example...

So the fact that they were all given the same issue isn't supposed to indicate that they all had the same flipping diagnosis? Lord. Some people.
So I go to a church that is probably about 75-80% white and maybe like 2% black. It's a Methodist church and because I was raised Methodist and Anglican, I'm not really comfortable in Evangelical or Baptist style services. Plus I'm only really there because DS likes singing in the children's choir and it is 5 mins from our house.
Any way this was the first service I've been to since the Christmas services and man what a service!
The sermon was off the chain. The Reverend used scripture to highlight that Christians are called to fight against injustice, side with the oppressed and give homes to the homeless.
And he sang a few lines of Dionne Warwick's "What the world needs now" and talked about segregation, the Vietnam war and the Civil Rights Movement.
Then he went on to praise Hidden Figures and play Taraji P Henson's SAG awards acceptance speech. Whaaat?!?!?
THEN he said you can't just sit around and complain about the world being full of darkness you have do something!
Daaaang! There were some of uncomfortable looking folks and many people nodding along.
I hate that I have to work Sunday mornings now. I really miss church right now.

Target has apparently stopped carrying my Kinky Curly products and BabyLiu's Mixed Chicks stuff. I need to find a new supplier. None of my other shops carry it. The thought of having to start over with products for her makes me light headed.

Target is also going to stop carrying the SheaMoisture body products, but they carry the hair stuff. What are they doing?

I noticed that! Shea Moisture and Miss Jessies are our backup products. All they seem to have now is Carol's Daughter. They went from a large selection and the ability to mix and match to like two lines. I nearly wept!
I really hope that it is something other than gallstones (I thought mine was major heartburn and was looking for a quick fix). I was told that once you have gallstones, it is only a matter of time before you have to have surgery. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
I hope you feel better soon and that it is not gallstones.

No gallstones but couldn't tell me what it is. It doesn't feel like heartburn. It's a sharp, squeezing pain that takes my breath away. I haven't slept in 2 days. I also don't feel hungry? I almost feel full.
Whew! Glad it's not gallstones. I hope you find relief and get some sleep.

@natariru I hope I get some answers and some relief soon.
I thought for sure I had gallstones earlier this year and had symptoms similar to what you describe. It turned out the problem was muscular, and I'd somehow pulled something. A shot cleared it right up.
Is the pain more in the front or in the back. For me the squeezing was in the front and more of a stabbing in the back. I could not get comfortable to save my life. Just something else to consider.
For some reason Tillie continuing to post is pissing me off. I know many of us said we didn't want to ban racists but she is gettibg on my last damn nerve knowing that she is racist and her just tralala posting. Such a basic white bitch.
