Can anyone explain to me why we've not invented beaming technology yet?
I mean hell, Star Trek showed us the world would not implode if black people started making out with white people so uhm why not this beaming business?
This is the only pic I have. My mom has more I'm sure. But this was taken about 16 years (damn) ago when I did one of my first pageants. He and my aunt drove probably an hour or so away from where they lived to come see me. He brought me flowers.
He was always well dressed and drove a long white cadillac, the old school ones with the navy blue tops, burgundy velvet interior with the lights when you opened it up where he kept the radio on the cool jazz station. You'd just lean back and be ready to fall asleep.
They had cook outs all the time when I went to go visit them. And he always made sure they cooked up my favorite burgers. I mentioned before but they got married when I was probably about five or so but before I started school, I think. They've lived in the same house as long as I can remember. I last saw him the summer before last. Prior to that, I hadn't seen him since I was 18. When I went to their house, they still had the same set up, my favorite burgers, and the same garbage pail stickers my cousins must have stuck on that door sometimes in the 80's.
He was awesome and sweet and always encouraging. Whenever I talked to him, even when I was short, I always left the conversation feeling better about my decisions, where my life was headed, etc.
"You gotta have a plan, Sam. You gotta have a plan."
My parents were in the military and everyone else in our life moved around a lot too so the reality is that he and my aunt were the most stable people in my life. Same house, same car, same driveway, same phone number, etc.

If you hadn't included a picture, and I only had to imagine based on this description, this is exactly how I'd imagine him. It's so sweet that they still made your favorite burgers, after all that time. I know you weren't able to see each other often, but did you talk much?

Not that often, unfortunately. He worked pretty often. I'm not even sure what he did tbh. lol
