It worked out really well for us! We also bought all of our camping gear through walmart and had it shipped to the Montana store, so we just had to pick it up. We did a lot of research and calculations for cost of flying with our gear, shipping it, etc. and it was cheaper to do it that way. Flying 1 way and driving home allowed us to pack so much into our trip. We could have only done a fraction of it if we have driven round trip, or flown both ways. Our itinerary was: 3 nights in Glacier NP, 4 nights in Yellowstone, 3 nights in Tetons, 1 night in Deadwood, SD, 1 night in the Badlands NP, 1 night in Sioux Falls, SD then home (Detroit). The car rental was expensive because they charged us $795 for a one way rental, but it was SO worth it. Save
