When it rains, it pours. In this case, literally. I was so prepared for our vacation this time around. Packed early, cleaned a little every day. Was actually about to go to bed on time last night. Then, guess who found 5" of standing water in the basement. The basement we literally just finished converting into our main playroom
My wonderful husband did most of the work, stayed up till 3am cleaning, then got up again at 6am to finish before work. But still, what a nightmare The only good news is that we initially thought it was a cracked foundation and we were thrilled to then find out our 3rd sump pump just died. H already replaced it and the water is nearly gone. But the rugs are ruined, and I'm worried about mold.

amaranth ugh that sucks! I'm glad it was an easy fix.
It's raining again today. I need to get off my butt and go do laundry. I don't want to lol. My stomach isn't happy today. My partner was sick yesterday with a stomach bug and if I caught it because it took them 5 hours to send him home I'm going to be pissed.
Oh no, amaranth!! What a terrible way to start your vacation. Thank goodness it isn't a cracked foundation!
wineandcheese - I hope you didn't catch your partner's stomach bug! I would be really upset in your situation, too. No one should be forced to be exposed to that kind of thing.
I slept for 11 hours last night, and it was glorious. All of the stress of the week finally caught up to me and I crashed HARD. I have a lot to do today, but all I want to do is snuggle on the couch with the dogs. They've both been glued to my side since I got home.
amaranth crap, I am so sorry ((( any chance you can call one of those places that deals with water damage? Drawing a blank on the name. They generally insure their work to help clean and protect against mold.
Stupid cough. Ugh.
Hopefully DH finishes moving some furniture around for our GR/Nursery swap while In at this wedding this weekend.

katespade I felt so bad for him. He was literally lying on the floor in the fetal position. Then to find out phone calls weren't made to find coverage, he sent out only 2 generic texts. If I knew that I would of called people!
wineandcheese - They didn't even try to find coverage? That's not okay at all. Your poor partner!
I told H that I wanted to have a cheat day as my reward for getting through the last week, so he had Sour Patch Kids and a Pepsi waiting for me when we got home yesterday. I didn't end up getting into them until this morning, because I crashed so early yesterday. lol.
katespade- glad you got some sleep! Your DH is seriously awesome! Enjoy your cheat day!
The boys and I have been busy cleaning this morning! I almost cleaned the entire house this week, which rarely happens. DH is off most of next week, and the days he doesn't work we are going to Disneyland and I have an ultrasound appointment for my thyroid, so I want the house clean so we can enjoy his time off before he starts his new job.
No plans for the weekend. My dad can't run tomorrow but can on Sunday so I need to see if DH is ok with us going or if he wants to do something as a family.
amaranth- while you are still home put some heaters down there if you can. If it all dries properly you shouldn't get mold. Mold usually happens when the drywall doesn't dry fully and water keeps coming in.
katespade- I'm glad your home safe and sound. Just think of all the possibilities that this trip has opened up for you! You now know you can get on a plane. Not only did you do it but you did it alone. A vacation with your H won't be nearly as bad!
I went to the gym yesterday and I had a really good run. It was great!
*baby related* DD has started teething. Yesterday was a really bad day! (I'm glad I ran in the morning) DH was wonderful though and I was able to go out last night and have some appies with some friends it was nice after DD nursed all day yesterday.
amaranth, that sucks. Quite a few people in my neighborhood also had flooded basements the last few days.
My pups are super affectionate, even Moo who usually isn't interested in cuddling is currently cuddling with me on the couch right now.
H went back to work today and he wasn't happy about it. I think he may try to look for a new job, even though he's only been here for less than a year. He likes the job and all but one of the people, but the commute is killing him.
Oh, and I am no longer teaching either of the two subjects I taught this year (the one subject I taught for the past three years). Switching to the other side, the "not" tested subjects. I'm super excited about the one class and partner, the other one could or could land up being a good or not good thing. But, hopefully it's better than it went this year.
amaranth Oh no!! What a huge mess. So glad you found it. I would think if you keep fans going to really dry it all out there should be no worry about mold. MIL just left a big ago. We tend to circle around conversations jumping from one thing to another. I'm not sure we even finished one conversation. Sometimes when she leaves I feel like my head is spinning just trying to remember what she was talking about. Lol.
