What to do?

I frequently take my dog H to the dog park. He has a best friend there - a larger dog R that he's played with at least 100 times. Two days ago they were playing keep away with a stick and R went after H. H was fine - no bite marks, but he's really scared of R now and wouldn't go near her. I haven't been back to the dog park since. WWYD? Is trying to get them to play again a bad idea? Should I not take H back there?

Holy hell, I cannot read. Anyway, edited to make sense. A lot of dogs can get territorial over toys...its called resource guarding. I would let them play but make sure no toys, etc. to guard.
