-Thursday (6/29) I took the afternoon off so I could go to a concert with my sister a couple hours away. -Friday (6/30) was my grandpa's memorial service. He passed away just before Christmas, but my dad and his siblings decided to wait until the summer to have the memorial because it's easier for travel. -Saturday (7/1) we ran errands, packed for camping, and went to a family member's 1st birthday party. -Sunday (7/2) we leave for a week of camping up in the town my parents grew up in. My parents, sister, and a few of my dad's siblings will be staying at the cottage, so we'll spend a lot of time with them. On the 4th, we go to the parade (it's seriously a huge deal in this small town - people save spots on the grass the night before along the major road in town that the parade goes down) and then grill out at the cottage, then go to fireworks later on. The rest of the time will be spent with family, going to the beach, going to get ice cream, looking in the shops downtown, going to the playground, and going mini-golfing.
Moving day was hell. If it could go wrong, it pretty much did. The movers used a rental truck and Uhaul screwed them and gave them a 20' instead of 26' and they had to make 2 trips. They were great but not as fast as they seemed to expect, and started at 11 when they said 9-10, so they were here until after 5pm. BUT thy had another client they were supposed to be at across town at 3 who had to be out by midnight, so we ended up not making them do stuff like put beds back together, which meant it was on us. And some important stuff was left at the old house like the drawers for the freezer (we have 2 freezer drawers) and a brace for DD's bunk bed.
Then the dog slipped her collar while I was taking her out to pee. She was fine for ages. I drove around and around. There was one dude out at midnight who like wasn't there and then all of a sudden he was standing next to his white van. It was probably my imagination or maybe he thought I was casing the place but he stood menacingly. I swear it was like a horror movie. I tried to sleep on the porch but I just hurt too much. I posted on FB and got a few leads but you know I had to check every time my phone vibrated at all. I know I went to sleep around 2 am and woke at 4 and looked out both doors and then woke at 5 for the day and checked again. Then I drove around with DD for about 2 hours when she got up and met a lot of people walking their dogs who promised to watch for her. Around 10:15, right about 12 hours after she took off, someone called me from a FB post and said they had her. They said she came to her last night and she was a little scared and said SIT and she did lol. So they shut her up in their fence until they saw the FB post on the neighborhood page. Hooray! We went and bought a martingale collar for her too. Sheesh!
And I finally got my living room squared away and it just looks awful. My furniture is all wrong. It's too bulky, and the couch has a chaise on the left but there is no good place to put it now, plus the coffee table doesn't work at all either. I will take a pic. It just looks BAD. I need new furniture but that will have to wait.
Also there is no good place to put a tv unless we mount it over the fireplace.
(Pretend the lamp was a floor lamp and the wood table was gone.)
Should've been a nice weekend and started out well but we're on about hour 10 of DH and I awkwardly not speaking to each other. He stayed up binge drinking and watching YouTube until I got up and sent him to bed at 5. I confronted him about it later in the morning and he's "shocked that I think it's a problem he likes to unwind."

My H isn't a child but he is apparently the most reliable person out of all 3 sides of his family. He spent $350 on a scale to weigh our nephew's 4h pigs. It should last until DS and DD show but still. Nephew told mil the other day that he learns more from DH than BIL. Next, FIL asked DH to help him mow SILs yard since she's recently divorced. FIL has mowed 2 times. He also loaned (read:gave) the bonus family $500 because their daughters car that they co-signed for was repossessed and they needed help paying for it. They also had to borrow his truck for the 3 hour drive to get it. That and the scale were paid for out of his account from mowing and plowing so it's not affecting us but holy shit. Maybe I want him to throw $850 my way and be home on his days off. He took the first 12 hours off today for a family reunion. He was home or with us for about 4.
akafred, can you put the couch on the other wall so the chase is on againt the wall/under the windows and the chairs are where the current couch is?
I thought about it. But I really wanted the chairs by the windows. I may try it and see how it goes at least until I can buy some better fitting furniture. That maybe six months to a year.
-Thursday: DH got a gift certificate for work and we went out to a fancy dinner while ILs babysat. DS1 got sick to his stomach while we were out, presumably from ILs force feeding him sweets.
- Friday: DH left for bachelor party in New Orleans. I took the boys up to my parents' cabin in Michigan (~2 hour drive). Got there in time for lunch and the beach. DS1 loved the beach. DS2 was slower to warm up. He liked crawling around trying to eat rocks better than the water. My sister and BIL also came up after dinner. We played board games after the boys went to bed.
- Saturday: Went blueberry picking and DS1 ate his weight in blueberries. Headed back to the beach. DS1 loved it again, DS2 was pretty grumpy. Wore everyone out enough that the boys took simultaneous 2+ hour naps in the same room. A big dinner of ribs with cheesecake for dessert. Lots of drinking and talking on the porch.
- Sunday: Half the people at the cabin woke up sick with food poisoning or a stomach bug. I was planning on leaving later in the afternoon, but packed up and left in the morning to get myself and the boys out of everyone's hair (and hopefully avoid getting sick). Back at home, lots of unpacking and laundry. Went to the playground and nearby nature museum. Quick Costco run, dinner, and a quick pre-bed walk and stop in the playground.
- Monday: Planning on taking the boys to Panera for breakfast. DH lands at 10:30 am. Hopefully he's not completely hungover and worthless. I'd like to get a little bit of yardwork and house projects done.
- Tuesday: No real plans. Maybe send DH and DS1 to the neighboring town's parade. Probably do some grilling and see if any of the neighbors are around.

I had a pretty good weekend. After getting back from my third trip this month (2 work, 1 personal), I was looking forward to sleeping in my own bed. Saturday was grocery shopping and pool time with the kids. Sunday was some house organization and more pool time. Today I'm working til about 2 and then my DS is in the local parade with his baseball team. Tomorrow we're headed to my SIL's house for a small get together and then we're coming back to our town for fireworks. I'd rather stay home all day but MIL is staying with my SIL and the kids look forward to the fireworks. Wed is going to be a long day and I already can't wait until next weekend.
Weekend was pretty good. Friends came over to stay and they are both tired from work so we are doing low key. Saturday we went to the farms and had a quiet afternoon and then took the dogs for a walk after DD went to bed. Yesterday we walked along the river in the morning and then did a little shopping/wandering then everyone napped before going to the rodeo. Rodeo was boring and the clown was horrible so a lot of dead waiting time and things seemed to just drag. DD loves the lady drill team and they put on an extra performance after the rodeo is over in the dark. They get themselves and their horses all lit up and and then run their routine in the complete dark...very cool.
Everyone is still home today except me (working) and they were planning on a DD style paddle and then DD has practice tonight. Tomorrow friends have to go home mid afternoon and I'm planning a quiet night at home comforting the poor dog. So far she is handling the fireworks better than normal but I think the vet gave me a larger dose of the anxiety meds which is so helpful.
