My PLC and I met yesterday and discussed our common assessments for make up tests. It was an all day process and we split up making the tests. I have been working on that and also some new vocabulary activities for my lower level students. We have one more session where we will all meet at the beginning of August to talk about team building.
The closer it gets to August (hopefully) the more motivated I will get.
You ladies are impressive. I totally took 2 weeks off and did NOTHING. I've been trying to just do some special stuff with my own kids.
I just started doing a little work on math lessons because I know the vast majority of my students next year aren't on grade level and will struggle with our set curriculum.

This is my 5th year teaching 3rd grade with the same team mates. We have it pretty well organized at this point. And I am in the same room for the 5th year. Really I just need to freshen things up for the new year and make the classroom look good and new again. We start at the end of August, so I am taking July off completely.
I've pulled some LATE nights printing and laminating. I've made some super cute alphabet matching & math centers I'm in K. I really need to get off all the teacher FB groups.
I've started hiding the teacher groups on FB for now, lol. Do you follow the Tara West group?

I've seen this PLC acronym several times, and I think it means something different to me: Professional Learning Community.
All the people I need to talk to take July off completely so I can't do anything until August... and I'm going on vacation with my family 08/05-08/11. So after that I have to do substitute trainings. It'll be so much fun! /sarcasm

Our PLC is professional learning committee. It's actually PLT but no other system calls it that plus it sounds like BLT.

Yes, I'm in the Firstie group. I hid some of the groups too.

So far, I've switched some bulletins over to flannel so I can stick words and displays up there with velcro, and I ordered some flannel letters from amazon to stick up on one. I've been working on switching all my sight words to snap words at the recommendation of my push in ENL coteacher.
I still need to work on learning all the tip tappers and tongue poppers that our speech teacher recommends.

It wasn't bad. I did take my time going through the fundamentals training before I signed up for the test. Some people skip that step. It really depends on your comfort level with all the Google tools.
I am piloting a new science program this year, so I have quite a bit of work to do with that. This will be the first time I've had a science textbook in ten years, so I'm both excited and apprehensive. I've done largely PBL for science in the past, and have created a lot of materials that I love, so I'm hoping I'll be able to blend the two. I have a little tinkering with my math block to do. I'm also on my building's PBIS leadership team, and we are going into our first year of implementation, so there's lots to do for that. Finally, I'm preparing to take an SEI licensing exam in August. This is definitely a working summer for me!
Which one? We were looking at Amplify but we aren't 1:1 so I don't think it will work (and I didn't love how scripted it was). We have 10 year old textbooks we barely touch.

I am piloting the National Geographic-Exploring Science program. It seems reasonable as far as science textbooks go, but I'm a firm believer that elementary school science is where kids get excited about science, and I'm not convinced any textbook can do that. I'm willing (and being told that I have to) to give it a chance, so we'll see.
