I should finish The Hate You Give today. Not sure what's next! I've been reading a bit, but gravitating towards fluff, which I'm not sure why since my guy is sleeping thru the night 70% of the night.
I'm reading Beartown by Fredrik Backman. So far I'm on the fence with this book. I don't like hockey and am not a sports fan in general so the storyline doesn't appeal to me at all, but his style of writing may save the book.
Qotw: Exercise or just get out of the house on my own- have lunch, wander the stores, etc.
I'm listening to the latest Charley Davidson. It's good, but I'm behind on my podcasts to it's not getting much attention.
I'm reading Dating-ish by Penny Reid and The Novice by Taran Matharu
QOTW: I need space by myself. DH needs to be together with someone when he's like that and I need solitude, so it's sometimes challenging if we're both in a mood.

I'm reading The Twelve (The Passage #2) and The Glittering Court. I normally don't read two at a time but I can keep The Twelve library loan on my nook with the Wi-Fi off past when it's due. The Glittering Court wouldn't download on my nook so I have to read it on my tablet.

I am still...still...reading The Obelisk Gate. I'm halfway through and the ebook goes back tonight, but I'm third in line to get it back. I should start learning my lines so maybe I'll work on that in the meantime.
I wallow in the mood until I can snap out. I take my space and either disappear into a good book or something else.

I'm still reading American Gods. I'm 3/4 of the way through and I really like it but this summer's been crazy and I just haven't had much time to dedicate to reading.
I'm also listening to Lillian Boxfish Takes a Walk. I'm loving this. It's really great and I highly recommend it, especially for anyone who loves or lives in NYC.
QOTW: I also like alone time and wine always helps too
I just started Cocoa Beach by Beatriz Williams. I liked her first few books and couldn't get into the last couple, but this one grabbed me right away. Yesterday I finished Grace to the Finish, a Julie Hyzy cozy mystery and apparently the last in the series, which is sad -- I really like her cozies.
QOTW: I'm currently unsuccessful at getting un-grumpy, which is why I asked. Usually yoga, a long walk, or some alone time will help. I can't change the situation so I really need to just let it go, but it's a challenge.

This week I read Idaho by Emily Ruskovich, 4 stars. The author is brilliant at describing a scene or relationship. The images she described were practically photographic and the emotions palpable. The main event in the book (death of a child) is harrowing and constantly revisited, so not my favorite thing to consider, but the descriptions were vivid and masterful. If anyone else has also read The Past by Tessa Hadley or We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves by Karen Joy Fowler, this book in some ways reminded me of those. Set out of town, spread over time, with skilled nuance in describing relationships and setting the scene.
I just started reading The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware in hopes of being conversant at the next discussion. I'm lukewarm on it so far.
QOTW: When I get in a funk, I try to change my perspective and that often helps. I'll go for a run and/or sign up for a race, check in on an older relative, volunteer somewhere, crank the music in my car, do something or go somewhere different, spend money, plan something fun coming up so I have something to look forward to, etc. I hope things are looking up soon, OP.
Allegedly by Tiffany Jackson 4/5 stars (great ya psychological thriller!!)
Wild : From Lost to Found on the Pacific Coast Trail 5/5 stars (Loved Cheryl strayed story!)
The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood 3.5/5 stars
QOTD: I've been having a lot of these lately. Usually some type of exertion! A bike ride, walk, yoga, IMMEDIATELY makes me feel better even during those times where I think NOTHING could possibly change my mood!
I'm re-reading the 12th book of the Wheel of Time series, but I think I'm going to pause it this weekend to start The Woman in Cabin 10 to make sure I'm ready for book club.
I'm listening to The Sixth Extinction, which is really interesting from a science perspective although somewhat depressing from an environmental one. Still, I do think it explains a lot of the methods scientists are using to analyze our current ongoing mass extinction in a way that is very accessible to non-scientists.
QOTW: when I'm able, a run or other type of exercise definitely is the best thing for me to do, but I can admit I don't always get up the energy to do that. Playing with my dog also helps because she's so exuberant.
Currently reading "Middlesex," and don't get the hype at all. I don't hate it, but I'm not eager to pick it back up either. That said, I'm going to finish it because it's okay and I'm more than half way done.
QOTW: usually, all I need is 10 minutes to stew in my bad mood and then it passes. if that doesn't work, I'll treat myself to whatever I am in the mood for at the time - dessert, pedicure, new clothes, etc.
Just finished Faithful Place by Tana French Her books are such a treat, I look forward to picking them up each time between readings. Not sure what I'm reading next.
Bad mood: I'll do something for myself, take a walk to get back on task clear my head enough to get through the rest of the day or go to bed and hope it clears by morning.

I'm reading Girl in a Red Tunic, but even after a week, I can't seem to get into it. I'm 4 chapters in and I have no feelings whatsoever for the characters, I have no idea where the story is going, and I can't seem to make myself care. I am going to give the book the weekend, but if I haven't gotten further by Monday, I'm giving up on it.
QOTW: It depends on the mood/day. Sometimes I clean, because creating order out of chaos always makes me feel better. Sometimes watching my favorite silly movies or tv works; I love Auntie Mame, Clue, Hogan's Heroes and The Muppet Show for just silly entertainment. Sometimes I bake or cook, but often that will make me feel worse because I don't have anyone to share the goodies with. Sometimes I read or take a bath, others I just give it up and take nap after nap after nap and then go to bed.
I'm still currently reading (but almost done with) HP and the Prisoner of Azkaban and The Kind Worth Killing. I'm really enjoying both, just was a super busy weekend and week. Starting on Wednesday I started to feel sick. I've got a cold so it'll be a weekend of cozy couch reading for me.
QOTW: I try to do something alone, like watch a movie or read or color in one of those mandala coloring books. I usually just need time to relax and be alone, I've found that if I'm having a bad day it's because I've been too busy or around people.

I LOVE Auntie Mame!!! Rosalind Russell is a goddess!!
I'm in the process of selling my house and buying a new one so there has been almost zero time to read
Read last week Flamecaster by Cinda Williams Chima - YA/fantasy; 4 stars; This is set in the same world as the author's Seven Realms series. There's some twists I won't spoil, but I will say one was extremely sad and the other was not too surprising but was still fun to read.
Currently reading Fall of Kings (#3 in series) by David Gemnel - historical fiction; just haven't had to get to this one much in the past couple of weeks Grave Witch by Kalayna Price - PNR; so far it reminds me a little bit of the Charlie Davidson/Darynda Jones series minus the heroine's humor I personally found to be a bit obnoxious in that other series (sorry snshne322! haha!) so that's a bonus to me
QOTW Usually I just do something for myself like read a book, or go get my nails done, or take a nap.

lol. Not at all! I think the audio is the only thing saving her humor from being over the top for me.
I think I remember reading Grave Witch, but I didn't read on. Let me know if you do and you end up liking them.
I read the memoir of Tippi Hedren. My husband was tired of me yelling OMG what a weird woman and what a life!! It wasn't well written, but it was interesting. It was also only $1.99.
I wish running around saying serenity now worked, but it doesn't, lol.
I'm reading Tribe: On Homecoming and Belonging, which is a non-fiction book about how Western Civilization causes depression, and how people have a stronger sense of community during natural disasters and war because class divides break down and everyone has to work together to function. It's interesting, but at the same time it feels a little condescending.
QOTW: If I'm in a bad mood, I usually just need to be left alone and not have any one talk to me.
Over the weekend I finished Mr. Penubra's 24-hour Bookstore. I really enjoyed it and flew thorough it. My hold came up for The Hate U Give and so I have started that, only 20% in. So far, it is a good read.
QOTW: I think a nap is very effective at helping a bad mood. Otherwise, sugar, caffeine, maybe some alone time...
I struggled for the first 2/3 of it or so, but now it is one of my favorite books.

I finished it last night. I've never had a book have such a turn around before. If the book wasn't by Backman I might have given up on it in the first half. The second half of the book made me love the book.
