My favorite travel palette is my sleek....uhhh...storm maybe? Whatever it's called. Any of the sleek palletes are great for travel though, so whatever strikes your fancy on color works. They're small for a 12 pan and very slim (pans are on the small size, though not too small), solid quality for the price, they click closed securely and have a full sized mirror. And they're cheap enough that if they get smashed/dropped/stolen/whatever - no tears. Unlike losing a LE like cherry smoke or a $80 viseart. Although I'm assuming something named petit pro is not one of the full sized $80 pretties...
I think lorac pro palette or makeup revolution new-trals would probably make good travel palettes. Tarteist pro palette maybe. I don't own it anymore but the Laura Mercier artist palette would be a good choice
The In TheBalm of Your Hand vol1 palette is awesome for travel. It legit has everything in it and it's slim. I think there's a vol 2 coming out soon too. I also love Tarte's Energy Noir which has everything but a bronzer in it.

Yeah I think Petit Pro was like $30? It's tiny and adorable. It's come along with me one trip, and coming with me when I see my parents next week, but I'm not feeling it as my only palette for a two week trip.
NewOrleans used to say that Sleek are fuckers, but maybe now that they are at a Ulta, I can not be afraid!

Yeah after voodoo and pixy, I think? Got hosed on shipping those bastards from the UK I didn't buy anything else, but now that they're at ulta it's on. I just got one of their highlight palettes. It's SUPER HIGHLIGHT. Wabam!
Related: how well do the Z-Palettes and Mac palettes hold up when traveling?
I travel with a MAC quad (with colors I chose). It travels just fine, none of my shadows have popped out or broken. I also love the flexibility of changing out shades.
Aside from that, I pack travel versions of stuff I like. I have a small Tarte blush, a small Lights Camera Lashes mascara, a small Primer potion, etc. I moved some of my foundation into a smaller container. I think the only full-sized versions of stuff I bring are powder, and brushes. I have a second set of MAC brushes I travel with, not to be confused with their "travel" brushes, which are crap quality compared to their regular brushes.
How long will you be gone? I prefer the Naked Basics for travel, but I'm usually only gone a few days.
I want to change my lewk with lipsticks, so I bring about a million of those, but only one small eyeshadow palette.
Two weeks. I want to pack light, but the thought of just one palette for that long is giving me the shakes.
Hmm two weeks. I'd do a naked classic and then like heat or peach for colors, or a mac custom with colors you can mix w the neutral. Sorry not helpful!!

The enabler in me says to buy a new palette that you're really excited about. I always feel like new palette keep my attention for at least 2 weeks before it goes into rotation.

I use my viseart petit pro as my neutrals and then for colors a z palette works ok for me as long as I have it in something. Like I have it in my makeup case inside my suitcase surrounded by clothes. I have a zpalette with just a few bolder shades and then I bring multiple different eyeliner colors. I find that I can really change up how my makeup looks even by tightlining in fun shades. For good bold singles I cannot recommmend highly enough the anastasia singles, especially their summer shades. They are magnificent, minimal fallout, amazing color payoff. I also sometimes bring my lorac megapro 2 palette because the mattes in there are really good, and it's slim enough that it's good for travel and doesn't take up a lot of space.
"This prick is asking for someone here to bring him to task Somebody give me some dirt on this vacuous mass so we can at last unmask him I'll pull the trigger on it, someone load the gun and cock it While we were all watching, he got Washington in his pocket."
I have this Tarte palette that I bought spring 2016 that I still use for business travel. I throw that, foundation, powder, mascara in a bag and I'm good. I love it.
Thanks for all the suggestions. Based on what you've all said, I've come up with a plan! I'm going to go to Mac and build myself a new palette - maybe a 6-er, something I can put basics I love in, plus a color or two. Then I'll pack a colorful liners to keep things varied. That will give me something new to hold my interest, plus allow me to put in the exact kinds of shades I like for my basic neutral eye. I don't really have any singles, so this investment will give me a base palette, and for future trips, I will have it and will just need to switch up one or two pans based on the purpose of the trip, thus solving my eternal search for the perfect travel palette.
I bring one of my Nakeds, and lots of different eyeliners. The eyeliners help me feel like I'm changing my look daily without taking up a lot of room. But, I'll add the disclaimer that I never travel anywhere for 2 weeks. 1 week max. I wouldn't know how to pack for 2 weeks!
I always take Too Faced A La Mode. It has neutral colors, metalic colors, and bright colors. I can also mix the colors to make purple and a dark dark brown almost black. Plus a little bit of sparkle/glitter if I want. I also take The Balm How 'Bout Them Apples cheek palette.
Is it weird that I really enjoy reading what I other people take with them? It's like the meeting of two of life's most hedonistic things. Its fascinating the many ways people approach vacation makeup.
My go to palette for traveling is Too Faced Bon Bons with lots of liner choices like pooh8402. It's a good mix of matte and shimmer in colors that work with my coloring and with different liners and lipsticks it can make lots of looks.
Alternatively, you can depot your palettes so you have all your favorite neutrals in a z-palette.
I like the way my palettes look and don't want to tear them all up. But I have a few that I never use, and have been thinking that I'd probably use them if I depotted and rearranged in more useable combinations. I could probably form a travel palette that way, but I'd probably still have to get a couple new shades.

I just got the Tarte Dream Big with the Ulta coupon. It's really tiny but has color, so I am going to try to make it work for my next traveling attempt to pack light.
I needed a little retail therapy last night, so I went down to Mac and made a travel palette. I couldn't make 6 work but I am in love with my 9 pan palette!

You need Soba! When I was playing with it today, I decided Soba might be my favorite. It's a satiny khaki and I don't have any other neutral quite like it.
