Well, my Friday just went downhill fast. There's something broken on our website. It's been broken since midnight last night and IT still can't figure out the cause. FML.
We are on our way to wine country for DH's event. It occurred to me that this is only my second child free weekend since 2013. Wayyyyy too long.
I'm excited for dressing up, being an adult, and sleeping in. Trying to figure out how to work breakfast, a run, and a massage into my day tomorrow before 12:15. I'm foreseeing something having to slide. Boo.
Love the masks k3am ! But what dress did you end up with? did I miss that decision?
The dress was none I posted lol. Totally mad at RTR, who sent a backup I didn't ever say I liked, but ended up liking, thankfully. (They did send one I liked more, but it was waaay too small)

I got an email at 2:30 from the admin at the kids' DC with a picture of DD sleeping in her office. She apparently wouldn't nap and finally fell asleep at 2:30, which is when nap was supposed to be over, so they moved her rather than waking her up.
She didn't nap yesterday and was a complete emotional wreck all evening. But sleeping from 2:30 to maybe 4:30 is probably going to be an issue also.
So annoyed. Generally, Friday nights are the only night I don't have to put up with my MIL eating dinner with us and hanging around until 7:00. But not tonight! As I have every effing day this week, I came home to MIL and DH sitting at the table drinking wine and talking about topics I don't give a fuck about (movies, political shows, shit they read on the internet today). Tonight is "snacky dinner", so I literally sat and read on my iPad for 45 minutes before either of them asked me a question. That question was "so how was your day?" Which my semi-drunk MIL then riffed on for a good 3 minutes before letting me answer. To escape, I went upstairs and flossed my teeth, then got the kids to clean up the huge fucking mess MIL had helped the kids make in the formal living room. You know, the one room in the house we discourage the kids from messing up. Which she helps them drag toys into Every Single Day.
Also, every single day this week, the kids have brought home new toys. Every day. Today in front of MIL, I enforced the "new toy in, old toy out" rule and made both kids go choose a toy to donated if they want to keep the new toys. She was unhappy with me.
So I'm starting the weekend irritated. That's awesome. I guess it's time to remind DH that I don't want his mother here every fucking night. If they want to hang out, they can do so all day while I'm at work.
mommyatty - is your DH a Southern boy? As in, apron strings still there and they act like it's normal? It's what I'm picturing now - and if it's that, it's ... a lot! It would drive me insane.

Pretty much. Though neither of them would admit it. At least she does treat him like an adult. And she's not generally awful. She's generally a fun and nice person. But for God's sake, can I just have ONE evening a week when I can come home, eat dinner in peace, and not have an in law here?
mommyatty, I'm sorry, that sounds miserable. I go bonkers with mine one weekday night a week. I get home from a long day at work and don't want to chit chat/entertain. Just want to spend one on one time with the kids since I didn't see them all day.
Weekend went really well. DD had riding on Saturday morning and then we did Costco and errands before pool time as the winds changed so the smoke got blown to someone else. We were smog/smoked in from the BC fires and the Mt. Jefferson fire so a wind shift was much needed even if it was only a 48 hour break.
Sunday we decided to drive over to the coast and hike. We hiked to the top of Cape Perpetera so sea level to 800ft but the view was totally worth it as the morning was amazing for the Oregon coast mid 60s, sunny, and no wind. By the time we had finished hiking for the day about 1 the fog was rolling in and you could barely see 20ft in front of you. We also tide pooled as it was low tide and got to watch a grey whale play around for about 15 minutes (air spots and breaching) we think it was a local as they should all be in Alaska feeding.
I'm really sore and tired as this is the first real thing I've done since the accident last December. I was cleared to walk and then relapsed so just got cleared again but I don't think hiking was okay but so far today I feel okay other than my muscles are screaming.
