When do you start back?

A few years ago the teachers voted to always start before Labor Day. It sucks to start in August but at least we are out early.

I have hope of getting out early this year. They finally cut our ridiculously long Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks to something reasonable.

But our superintendent a few years ago decided we should go 3 days more than the state minimum.

We go back the 23rd, but the kids aren't back until September 5. I have no idea how they plan to fill all of those PD days.

I start on August 15 since I'm attending several new teacher trainings and orientations. The rest of the teachers return on August 21. School starts September 6.

I have a PD on the 15th. Then we start back with meetings and such the 21st. Kids come on the 28th. I spent the first two weeks of summer doing a training so it feels really short this year.

Our official start date is the 21st, PD day the 22nd, and kids come the 23rd. The union wants us to "work to the rule," and not go in until that day, but I can't do that to the kids. I have to get my room ready, so I'll be going in starting this Friday.

Ugh, just got my welcome back letter. We have mandatory computer training for 2 hours!! Our second day back. It's like they want us to be behind.

I start this Friday, 8/18. I seriously hate starting on a Friday. We have PD on Friday and Monday, and the kids come Tuesday 8/22. I am sitting on my couch now trying to convince myself to go in for a few hours this afternoon.

We have PD the week of the 28th. Students start the day after Labor Day. I've been in my classroom every day this week, getting things organized. And I have a meeting and two days of training next week.
