I'm sorry high school was so rough for you, katespade. Freshman year of high school was my worst year ever, so I get it.
My H just got a call from an interview SEVEN months ago. The position was put on hold but is all systems go now, and he is their top candidate. We are a little floored. H normally wouldn't leave a job weeks after starting it, but the salary might be 20% more, the vacation 33% more, and it's a casual environment (jeans), which he loves. This is crazy.
He is going to talk to them tomorrow. He assumes he'd have to interview again since it's been so long and that it's not an actual offer yet, so we'll see.
krystee that's awesome that he might have another job offer! Here's hoping my H can find a job before his layoff in a few months.
katespade first few days went as well as they could- stuck in boring meetings all day. Looking forward to students starting back. I do love our new daycare provider though.
I keep reading things (like your post) and meaning to respond, then forgetting. I think being busy at work is contributing to this. There are 3 other people that do the same tasks I do (and another that's on ML but coming back soon, plus others jump in and help when they're done with their stuff). For a few days late last week and early this week it was just two of us. It felt like I was alone though. Ugh. The other person sits along the walkway and I've walked by him multiple times and noticed his phone up (while his computer screen is unlocked, so he's not on break). He's freaking playing Pokemon Go!! Every time!! I'm debating talking to my boss about it. I hate to "tattle" but it's obviously affecting our work. I occasionally check texts here and there so I can't say anything about being on a phone but he's had a game up multiple times while "working". Come on!!
grover good luck to your H! Layoffs are so stressful, ugh.
The new job scheduled a final conversation next Wednesday, and the salary is not a 20% increase. It is a FIFTY percent increase. I practically started hyperventilating when he told me. I so hope this works out!
krystee that is so incredible! Best wishes for it to work out!!!
Our garage reeks of some horrible chemical but I can't isolate the area or source. It's like nail polish remover but so much stronger. Any ideas what it could be? It's horrible and I'm worried about health risks.
amaranth - Google says that you should call the Fire Dept for a safety inspection if you can't find the source of the smell, and that most Fire Depts will do one for free.
katespade never would have thought of that. I'm embarrassed to have anyone see our garage but it may be a good idea. I'll see if I can identify it by tonight then consider calling.
ewall no drains or pipes that I know of. There's so much construction stuff that I'm worried two products not meant to mix, somehow did.
amaranth - We called the gas company out once because we thought we had a gas leak. Nope, a rat had died in the ducts. The inspector knew what the smell was as soon as she stepped into the house. I was so embarrassed.
*update* the smell has been found. After a week. Turns out a can of pvc primer has a tiny leak so it wasn't really evident by casual observation. Hopefully ventilating the area and getting rid of the can will be enough.

It's taken me forever to post this, but here's my hair before and after! It didn't come out super bright, but at least it's noticeable. I'm happy with the color.
amaranth- I'm glad you figured it out. But yes the fire department can help in these situations, and believe me they have seen much worse then your messy garage. Right wineandcheese?
HoneySpider- it's not allowing me to see the pictures. π
Talk about @ below.
Today I am having lunch with a childhood friend. (Met in grade 2 when he moved into the house at the end of our street.) He lives out of town but he is back because another one of our childhood friends is getting married tomorrow! I am excited for him to meet DD. And I'm excited to see some friends who I haven't seen in a while at the wedding tomorrow. I hope DD does ok with being out of the house from 1:30 until whenever we go home. Defiantly bringing my carrier, some toys and food for her. This will be good practice for a wedding we have in sept. Except in the sept one DH is a groomsman so I will be alone a lot at that one. (Well we have lots of friends there so I should get a lot of help there)
My mom just text me, my grandma fell last night and broke her ankle. π She is going to be in rehab at the hospital for at least a week. Her 86th birthday is tomorrow.
amaranth we go to those type of calls all the time. A messy garage is nothing. Most of the time it isn't a danger but as I tell people, it's better to be safe then sorry. I'm glad you figured it out.
katespade i never went to my 10th reunion. I was never invited, actually 75% of the class wasn't. I wouldn't of went anyways. We now have a Facebook group but I don't go on it. They tried a 15th informal reunion this year but no one was really interested.

A sign you really need a cup of coffee: You make yourself a cup, and even froth the cream and everything, but forget to change out the coffee grounds that have been sitting in the machine since this morning
HoneySpider: A month or so ago I put non-dairy creamer, sugar & hot water in my portable French press. The pale colour was the only reason I realized that there was in fact no coffee. π΄
katespade: Ugh, people can be sick jerks! We're moving back to my hometown and while high school wasn't that unpleasant for me, I have to keep reminding myself that lots of people live there & that people change.
Thanx ladies. My grandma hasn't been doing well and DH and I are making more efforts to see her more often.
Unfortunately we think this is going to be all down hill from here. She can barely walk as it is and she is having a hard time with her heart and lungs as well. π
