Thanks, guys. I don't know what's wrong with me. This morning at yoga, I could hardly do anything and I nearly cried again. Then I sobbed while eating breakfast. So uhhh, I'm either just exhausted and need some rest or I'm dying. IDK. I am supposed to lift tonight, but I might just go in and do some mobility stuff and go home and go to bed.
I forgot to set my alarm last night and got almost 10 hours of sleep. Which, made for an interesting morning dashing around getting ready for work. But OMG did I need that sleep. I feel like a new woman (and my H agreed, so obviously it was BAD). So maybe you just need some extra rest.

I swear I've gone through something similar the last two summers around this time of year and I'm convinced it's just cumulative fatigue of summer training. I felt it coming on last week and took 3 days totally off and feel so much better.

I swear I've gone through something similar the last two summers around this time of year and I'm convinced it's just cumulative fatigue of summer training. I felt it coming on last week and took 3 days totally off and feel so much better.
Could definitely be that. Add in the concerts (late nights) and being a tinge dehydrated and you've got a puddle of wambam, crying in some rando's driveway last night.

Same. Summer training gets me every year around this time. I started taking iron again and am focusing on hydration and nutrition. Rest up and feel better wambam !

keweenawlove, it's "good" to hear that maybe it's just summer training getting to me. I've been feeling not terrible, but just not good for the past could weeks. It could totally be heat related since I'm training for a century ride next month.
I'm ready for autumn weather!! These 90*+ rides are getting old. And, while I'm feeling really strong overall with my longer rides, I'm so ready to have the 100 miler behind me. I want to enjoy a long ride of 30-40 miles instead of 70-80! And get back to more strength training. I swear it kills me every summer. I tried to do heavy marathon training the last 2 summers and completely burned out. My best marathon was an early November one where I didn't have to seriously ramp up training until mid August. Hope you're able to gut it out the rest of the summer. Fall does feel wonderful after dealing with all this!

My vent is my house is home to yellowjackets 😱 This has happened in the past. We thought we fixed it but they found another way in. I hate these damn things! I've got the exterminator here right now. While I was showing him the general area where we think the nest is....one started crawling on my foot. I hate bees of any variety. I can't express how creeped out I am!!!
Good thing the guy is here. They had been contained in the office closet but they are now in the office. Barf! The guy found the nest at least and is ready to take it on!
I'm kinda winging my century. I'm in solidly 50-60 mile shape. We're doing 65ish next weekend and 70+ the weekend after that and then probably like.. 20 and then 100.
I will not be signing up for another one of these until shorti is old enough to legally babysit. We just can't make the training happen. I've been so focused on this weekends tri that I haven't even let myself really think about it until I just read farfalla2011 s post
farfalla2011 and wawa I hear you about riding in the heat! It's just too hot for cyclocross, and we started our practices tonight. I'm taking a glorious WEEK off the bike soon. I can't wait!! wawa--You will do great at your century!

wawa, you're going to do great on the tri and the century! But, I hear ya on kid scheduling. We've been fortunate to squeeze in most of our training when we don't have them (yay being a step parent) but we're taking this weekend off since they have so many activities all over town and then we have one more weekend (the 2nd) we're going to have to figure out something since it will be our last big ride before our century.

I don't see the orthopedist for another 3 weeks, but I wanted to stay active and my hip hasn't been hurting. After some googling the best activities for hip arthritis (one possible diagnosis), I've been getting my miles in on the elliptical. 2 miles on Tuesday - slight soreness, but nothing awful. Today, I felt a little sore so I decided to try the exercise bike, which was also on the list.
NOPE. I did 30 minutes and then stretched a bit and my hip/ thigh/ knee are NOT happy. Ugh.
I hate the elliptical even more than the treadmill, but if it's not going to cause me pain, I guess that's what I'll do. I might try a slow run on Saturday. Doctor's orders were to do what I can and stop if it hurts too much.

Do you have a real bike you could try? Did you adjust the exercise bike? I have been biking a lot more and doing some on spin bike. But some things on bike do aggravate my hips. Good bike adjustment is also important too.

I don't have a real bike. I did adjust the exercise bike as best I could. I have short arms and legs so it is hard for me to get a comfortable fit on there. I can try the recumbent bike, which is usually better for me, but I don't like it.

It looks like the swim portion of my Olympic triathlon this weekend is being cancelled. There's still a chance but it doesn't sound hopefully. I've been so worried about the swim and now I'm really upset it's being cancelled. It's rationale to go look for another Olympic triathlon later this year, right?
