So many good lines, but I think this is my favorite: “What is off-putting about them is they do not grasp their essential irrelevance,” this veteran told me. “They think they are special.”
I want to tape this to their bathroom mirror.
It's like the opposite of that affirmation video of the little girl.
Are these people THAT naive to think its really just this easy? Really?! Jfc
what this really shows me is that she lives 100% in her dads bubble. She's where she is because of him, she thinks everyone loves him because HE says everyone loves him, and she's observed his business "skills". Put all this together, here is the result. She has no clue how the real world that doesn't involve her father works.
LOL!! Poor little snowflakes. It's pretty clear that this family and their fragile egos cannot handle D.C. I wish they'd all return to their gold toilet lives.

I'm just....flabbergasted at her making an appointment with Cecile Richards to ask her to have PP stop doing abortions. Abortions that aren't even covered by federal funds. And then Ivanka expects women to believe that she is on 'our' side. GTFO.
"The couple, somewhat famously, seems to skip town at the precise moment a political catastrophe befalls the White House—letting it be known, for instance, that they were on vacation in Vermont when President Trump delivered his deeply troubling statements about the violence in Charlottesville. (One West Wing aide noted to me that it isn’t that they leave when bad things happen; it’s just that bad things are always happening.)"

Yes. As the famous quote goes - born on third base and thinks she hit a triple.
I read the Vanity Fair article yesterday and it is so funny to me that they are saying they want to go back to NYC, as if that city doesn't hate them just as much. Sorrynotsorry, you have nowhere to run to, assholes.

The thing about business environments, sometimes the boss is not the smartest in the room and people spend time pretending they are. They don't know it doesn't translate into every setting. Sad.

I bet they'd do ok in a place like Montgomery. Or maybe Pensacola?

especially when you're brought up in that environment and see a man who surrounds himself with yes people and she really probably had NO CLUE that this isn't how the rest of the world - much less government - works.
This is not said to illicit any sympathy for her, because I have none. She's a grown ass adult who is well educated. She's made no effort to try and look at things outside of the trump bubble. And she married a a man who only wanted into the bubble and has done nothing to dissuade her of her disillusions.
If Million Dollar Listing is to be believed, there are a lot of Russian and Chinese nationals in NYC these days. They'll be fine.
I'd love to see Frederick real-estate-troll these idiots. Not even show them properties they won't want, but to make snide, back-handed remarks for an entire episode. SIGH. I'd PPV that shiz...

I don't know I was just reading about them going to some high society party in the Hamptons. I think NY has a higher population of rich "I don't do politics, I just want to make money" people, which will be slower to reject them.
I saw a headline on WaPo recently (but didn't read it) about how DC is hard for the Trumps because money isn't as respected as power, intelligence, connections, the ability to get shit done, etc. It's a different way of evaluating "importance." Being the richest man in the room is no longer the most important thing. I can't find the article now though....

I love this, because money is everything to them. They've bought their way through life.

Well that and they have no alliances. Republicans hate them because they think they are democrats. Democrats just hate them.

Truth the power game is totally different in DC. It's about who you know and who is going to listen to you. Trump is so busy being a showman and pissing people off (McCain, McConnell, etc) that he isn't gathering the connections and allies he needs to make things happen.
He still thinks he is in the boardroom as CEO where he tells someone to jump and they ask how high.
He doesn't get the subtle power game of having the allies to not have to ask yourself but just have the right person suggest that jumping is a good idea,

From the Vanity Fair article:
"Once, when Priebus asked Kushner what his team of Cordish and Liddell had been up to, Kushner retorted, according to someone who heard the exchange, “Reince, we aren’t getting paid. What the fuck do you care?”
