My Friday random: it is the first day of fall-like weather here in NJ and I am seriously underdressed. I am freezing my a** off here on the train platform.
Weekend plans: not much. We're expecting rain Sat & Sun so probably lots of time inside. Maybe the mall to finish back to school shopping. It's the last weekend for the pool, but (A) rain, and (B) cold.
I think we might be the last people in America to start school this fall. I'm on PTO all of next week because DD's first day of kindergarten isn't till Friday.
Ransoms: carpet people are coming to replace the carpet they didn't install right. So they are having to move all of our furniture since they didn't come when originally schedule for the builder.
Weekend Plans: going back to visit my family in IL for a baptism. Then hosting DHs family Monday for his birthday and fantasy football draft.
Family reunion is supposed to be Sunday. Tomorrow will be prep, assuming we don't get flooded or have to evacuate etc. Need to make food, put together photo booth props, collect decorations etc.

My random: I think there is a mouse in one of the glue traps in my front lobby. It's right by the front door and light switch and even though said mouse would be dead, I refuse to get close enough to unlock the door and turn the light one. Everyone can use the side entrance until a man gets here.
I'm probably only working half day today. DH works today and Sunday, so we don't have big plans. It's a big camping weekend but we obviously won't be taking part in it. The kids and I are going to dinner and shopping for odds and ends tonight with my mom. I may start shopping for our vacation next month. Saturday we are getting our dishwasher looked at and hopefully fixed. It's not drying. Again. It just did this in July and that was a nice $200 bill. Hopefully after that we can go order cabinets for our bathroom where our washer and dryer were. That needs done whether we stay in our house or move. Monday is a birthday celebration for my SIL.
Fantasy football draft is tonight at our house. I'm excited to get the season started!
Tomorrow I'm doing a long walk with my brother and his gf. They're doing the half marathon with me, so I'm excited to do a "team walk" before the big day.
And I'm getting a haircut. I think I may chop it pretty short. It's driving me crazy lately.

This weekend is going to suck at work. It's going to be busy and I ended up with 3 days of mandatory overtime. The only reason I didn't get Monday OT too is because I'm off the next day. OT means I could work anywhere from 11-16 hours each day.
Tonight is pretty dreary, so I told the kids we would do homemade pizza and get out the fall decorations. They love that.
Saturday we have a big barbecue and cookoff all day at the lake. Rain is supposed to be out, but not sure how warm it will be to swim.
One day, we need to find time to take DS shopping for fall clothes. He hates shopping, but has outgrown all jeans.
I may may not be speaking to Dh this weekend. I asked him if he talked to his cookoff partner. Instead of answer he barks, why are you asking. Um... because I will have to take you there and drop you off sometime early in the morning so not to have 2 cars and to drive your ass home as usual? He needs to take the advice he gives to dd, not what you say it's how you say it. I hate asking him anything because clearly everything I ask is totally exasperating or stupid.

Picking up the girls from my sister this afternoon. Yesterday, after work, I got a massage. Went with a different massage therapist than I normally do. She was wonderful AND went 15 minutes over the hour!!! Then H and I went out to dinner and ate everything on the menu. And got fancy drinks. Was our first date in a while and it was lovely. I was so full though. I was able to get in a CF workout this morning without breakfast...and I STILL felt like i was gonna barf because I was so full.
Working from home today. It's our last "summer Friday" where we can log off early. Sadly, it's chilly and overcast, so no pool time.
I think we're getting a new car tomorrow. Sunday the girls will come to the gym with me while H does outdoor chores. Then I have a baby shower.
For labor day, H is going to his cousins for a fantasy football draft. Some of the girls may come over here to swim with me.
Plans: (F) MRI for DD, 15 month well check for DS. (S) Chopping off ALL my hair, having a friend over, (Su) long run then a swim party. (M) getting labwork done for DD then going into the office for a few hours and then having the inlaws over.
Random: My cousin keeps asking me to donate money to various causes. For her to take a $400 class to "become a life coach so she never has to be dependant on anyone again", for some random kids who qualified to represent Fiji in the Olympics, whatever. Go Fund Me type stuff drives me nuts. I'm cool with certain causes - unexpected health expenses, funeral expenses, whatever, but going on a trip? Or your life coach classes? Not so much.
It is still super hot here - upper 90s- and I'm ready for more fall like temperatures.
There is hot air balloon festival in town this weekend so I think we might go watch the launch tomorrow morning. On Sunday we might go to the water park since it is still so hot and on Monday I think we're going to go to a movie (Leap). Monday is also my birthday. DH is still on a fire with crappy cell coverage. We've had one conversation that wasn't really a conversation in the past week (it was basically me saying "hello" and then him saying "can you hear me" and then a long delay and a "this isn't really working"). At least he gets text messages??? Anyway, he better plan on making up the whole birthday thing next weekend when he will, presumably, be home.

k3am, an acquaintance tagged me in FB post (along with a bunch of people) with "if I've ever donated money to a cause you support or have given free professional advice you will donate to this cause of mine ...." type thing and it pissed me off. Like, we have met 1/2 a dozen times over 10 years. Also, you haven't.

We are doing our last camping trip of the year. It's with DS's best friend, whose mom was my closest friend at my old firm, so I'm super excited about catching up. I already told DH he has to take care of the kids as I need to take care of the wine. 😝
Random: DD gets upset every time we bring up the topic of her daycare. She is going two days a week and it's only the second week, so I know she's likely just adjusting. But it breaks my heart. I mean, she doesn't have to go - she could always stay home with our nanny. I just thought the socialization would be good for her and she'd like it. But seeing her whimper and cry at the mere mention of daycare is hard. DH said we should at least give it 2 months. Someone convince me that it's the right thing to do?
Ransoms: Planning on kidnapping a teddy bear and leaving a ransom note...
Plans for the weekend: Purchase and write out invitations for DS's birthday. Donate car seats- I am not sure if they will take them, but whatever. Get a haircut. Schedule PT for DS. He received a referral from the pediatric orthopedic. Maybe go to the pool.
I probably should make plans with a DD's best friend or try some other people, but I just suck at reaching out sometimes, and I haven't heard from her either. And my weekend starts to look pretty busy already.
Vent: I'm working on my off day so I can get the 1st payrolls done before the long weekend so I can take DD to school on Tuesday. I asked my clients to have anything they wanted done to me by 9am. They have gotten really bad about waiting until after lunch and then needing things ASAP. I have gotten 3 phone calls and 3 emails all within the last 20 minutes so 8:50-9:10. Grr
Weekend is heat advisory with fire weather and SMOKE. We are going to go to Central Oregon to visit friends since they reopened the highways and our air quality is similar to theirs. Will see if we stay the whole weekend or head home early.
DD has gone gangbuster on wanting to read sine Wednesday night. She wants to show Mrs. J how good she is so she doesn't have to read the baby books. LOL

I'm currently sitting at the dealership getting my oil changed and A/C looked at. I didn't think about the fact that everyone else might be getting their vehicles looked at prior to the Labor Day weekend so I may be here for while I also have the day off but have been working while here. Keeps me from getting bored and hopefully I start next week ahead of the game. I plan to do some shopping when the car is done.
Oh - at school drop off, one of the moms in my neighborhood asked me if I could watch her two youngest kids - one is my son's age and the other is younger. - for a couple of hours. They are a new to us family so I was kind of surprised but happy DS gets an impromptu playdate. Hope it goes well.
DH is taking the kids to his hometown this weekend and I'm staying home. I love my in laws and I'm feeling a little guilty that I'm not going but at the same time, the whole reason DH is going is to help my FIL put up his deer stand. The kids are going to shoot some guns and get spoiled by grandparents. I would be completely bored. Guns and hunting are not my thing. Instead I'll work on some DIY projects around the house without anyone interrupting me. I can't wait!
DD has softball practice tonight. I'll hit the gym tomorrow morning. Tomorrow will be rainy, so I'm debating on taking the kids to some fun indoor place. Sunday and Monday are wide open. We will definitely get outside to enjoy the last warm weather, I'm just not sure where yet.
Today is my first day of a five day vacation to be with the kids before school starts.
I've decided to have a yard sale tomorrow. I've been sorting and storing things for years and it is time. I've been moving stuff downstairs all morning and I have to say that I am way too old for this.
Kids are excited to "run the sale" and have made signs. We are going to pick a couple charities together to donate proceeds to (and apply my company 2:1 match.)
Correction: no lab work on Monday! Woohoo! The head of the PICU came down to chat and said they can do it with her MRI today and then save a couple tests until right before her surgery on Wednesday. Phew.
DD is back for her MRI. This was hard. Her last was so recent she remembers the whole process. Lots of screaming, 5 adults, 1 blown vein. At least next week, they'll give her anti anxiety drugs and gas to knock her out before placing the IV.
k3am, Was she under anesthesia for the MRI? I am surprised they didn't do the IV until after she was knocked out.
At this hospital, they don't have a recovery room for MRI, so they won't do gas to knock her out. Always just the IV. We've been at another hospital that does and life was much better.
I'm back! (for those who remember me) First day back at work after my 11 month mat leave (thank you Canada). DS is at a dayhome and DD starts Kindergarten next week. Transitions all around for everyone. I was definitely ready to get back to work but I was a little sad leaving them this morning. Today is the longest amount of time I'll have been away from DS since he was born. He's my little Velcro baby so this transition will be tough for him.
Tomorrow we have DH's nana's 90th birthday celebration. BBQ at his aunt's acreage. Looking forward to seeing the whole family. No big plans for Sunday and Monday. We're working on renovations at our rental so trying to finish those off and get the place rented again.
DH and I made it to Omaha for his bff's poorly planned wedding. Halfway through our drive here, the groom sent DH a text that he wants people to wear dress pants and sports coats to the rehearsal dinner tonight. I had checked out the restaurant online and it is a gastropub that is definitely casual. So the groom is going to have to live with DH in jeans and a dress shirt. Sorry, not sorry.
