Is there any difference between high end and drugstore hair tools? I broke my flat iron and I'm balking a little at the prices of GHB/Drybar - is it really that much more money?

Hot tools or GVP (Generic Value Product) have always been good to me. GVP is sold at Sally's.

Go swing by a TJ Maxx or Marshalls. They get a bunch of stuff that didn't sell at JCP salons or at Macy's. I buy my hair dryers that way - I think I paid $50 for my T3. They usually have Hot Tools as well.

I'm in the market for a new foundation, and the Ulta 5X points is extra incentive. I have mostly-normal-sometimes-oily skin, and large pores. I don't like the way my old foundation was settling into my pores.

What have you tried and what type of finish are you looking for?
I have a similar skin type and honestly, some of my favorite foundations are the covergirl ones.

I have tried Bare Minerals BareSkin liquid foundation; Smashbox Studio Skin; and Clinique Better Than Makeup. I just want a smoother matte finish.
When I first started using the Smashbox foundation, I liked it. I'm going to try washing my brushes more often and maybe try a new primer before I switch foundation.

I really like Lancome Teint Idole. It has a really pretty finish.
The new TF peaches & cream foundation is supposed to be a soft matte finish. It's only at Sephora though I think but you can get a sample to try. Otherwise maybe try a different setting power if you're wanting a more matte look. Personally I really like the TF Cocoa Powder Foundation. It's at Ulta and has a soft matte look. I use it alone by it works over foundation too. I also see good reviews about the It Cosmetics celebration powder foundation as a good setting powder.

I was at Sephora for the first time in forever today and fell hard for the MUFE build your own face palette. The colors were beautiful and so soft. I did the buy 3 and the palette for $45. I picked a highlighter, matte blush that is technically one of the "sculpting" colors and a peach blush with some sheen. The compact is really nice too. I already know I want to get more and I have SOOOOOO many blush/highlighters already...

Also, I ordered the new acne powder and liquid cover up from it cosmetics. My face has been good for a while and then I woke up with 3 pimples, so I figured I would give it a try. 5x's the points helped:-)
I grabbed the cover Fx setting powder and some new hair clips. Got 144 points for a 27 buck purchase. I forgot that I wanted to grab the new Urban Decay mascara but I'll be ordering again for the clairisonic brush heads so will add it to that order.

I've tried so many higher end foundations but always end up back at the drugstore. Right now I'm using the WnW Photo Focus set down with Maybelline Fit Me loose powder. I HAVE to use a primer though. I also switched over from using a powder brush to using a damp sponge to set and that made a world of difference in the finish of my skin (and wear time too).
I love Lipsense. I tried it to humor a friend but I LOVE it. I have Caramel Apple and Pink Champagne.
I'm not ashamed. I regret nothing.
I mean, if you love it, then you love it. I personally have too many other lip products that I've spent money on and love to even bother with trying this stuff.

My doc prescribed me doxycycline for my hormonal acne. I've been reading up on it and right now, I'm not even sure if it's worth to deal with all of the side effects.
So if you have any experience with taking doxycycline for acne, please share them! Thanks!

I like MAC foundations. Does your local Ulta carry MAC? I feel like I keep returning to their Studio Fix formula. They have a waterweight version, which is a bit lighter, but I prefer their regular version for a little more coverage.
I've also liked the Maybelline Fit Me matte foundation. My biggest issue with buying "drugstore" versions is I am truly horrible at matching my skin color, which is partially why I went back to MAC.

Oh goddammit.
Tell me why.
It really does last forever. And because of how it adheres to your lips, it works really well for layering it to make different colors. I find that with regular lipstick or gloss, if I put one over the other, it kind of just wipes off the one underneath, but this actually mixes the colors in a way I think is cool. I'm not selling it so don't any of you people come at me! But I would buy it again if I found colors I don't already have in another form of lipstick-- whiiiich is unlikely, lol.

I've taken it before. I admit I hate taking antibiotics generally but my acne bothered me enough to do it. My doctor had me take only 1 weeek though at a time, as needed (again at a week at a time). Would this be constant taking? For me it was a perfect kick during bad spells but I didn't take it more than 4 times a year (weeks). My doctor would prescribe more that's just what personally worked for me.
Not a doctor and shouldn't even play one on a message board: if it's hormonal than would something addressing the hormones work better? I guess that's still something you have to keep taking.
Taking antibiotics was so worth it to me for acne, for what it's worth.

Yeah, we're basically doing a process of elimination. She wants me to take it for a month and see what happens and go from there.
I'm thinking they're hormonal because they only come around a week before my period. There are some months where they don't even show up but whenever they do, OMFG, they're so painful and under the skin. I'd have like, a stinging chin for about a week. It sucks so bad.

totallt makes sense. Antibiotics usually bother my stomach, and this was no expection but it was also pretty mild. I increased yogurt and that seemed to help (at least in my head). Now a days I'd probably take an probiotic too.
I'm not sure t makes actual sense, but taking for a period of time and then seeing what was going on made a real difference for me. Like it created some sort of re set it seemed? Like I was hesitant to go on if only staying on it would stop it but it actually had longer term help, at least for me.

good luck! It really does suck. It can get better.

I bought Naked Heat and I'm in love! I hesitated to get it because I usually gravitate toward cool tones, but had seen it on someone online with my coloring and it made their blue eyes just pop. It's such a nice formula and makes my eyes look crazy blue. Great colors for fall, too.

Doxy does indeed work over my stomach something awful. I have to take it every fall because I get perioral dermatitis. I'm on it right now. It is the only antibiotic that has ever done this to me. However, it does clear up the rash immediately.
Champagne Supernova my big suggestion is if it feels like it's remotely stuck in your esophagus, then take a couple of bites of bread or something nice and solid to grab it and carry it down into your stomach. You don't fuck with doxy in your esophagus.

Is it true that you aren't allowed to wear other lipsticks anymore?
Also, pics?!
That's what they SAY. They ALSO say that wearing Lipsense over time will IMPROVE the health of your lips...and that is NOT true. I mean, it won't destroy them, but it absolutely dries them out and you have to exfoliate and moisturize every night if you don't want your lips to look like shit. I personally think it's more of a marketing spin to get you to commit exclusively to their products.
I have a lot of colors, but I'm kind of going back to my other lip products. I find the problem is that while it does absolutely last longer than any lipstick I've worn, there is a point where it starts to look like shit, and for me that's about 8-9 hours. I have wrinkly lips and at that point it starts to have visible cracks and feels uncomfortable. It probably lasts longer and better for those with smoother lips, I'm sure. You really can't take it off and reapply after that point. You COULD, but it is a process to remove it and if you try to apply color again, your lips will BURN.
I am also OFFENDED by the price of their clear gloss, which MUST top the color. Okay, $25 for lip color. That's not terrible, especially considering the fact you apply it once and you're done. One tube of color should last a good while. Their Glossy is $20! It has to be reapplied fairly frequently to keep the color looking good. It just seems like a ridiculous price since you'll go through it quite rapidly, and it can be mass produced much more efficiently than the colors. Such a rip-off.
I also read on ML that one of the company owners donated $250k to Trump's inauguration. So I'm definitely not buying any more.
