Today I got in my car and my Bluetooth wasn't working. When I got home I tried to pair it again and it said the device name on my car was - in all caps - DIRTY HIPPIE. Before that it was like Toyota cartalk or something. Whatever the factory named it.
I definitely didn't change it. My car was parked in my secure work parking garage underground four levels. It was locked. Nothing inside was tampered with or looked different at all. Nobody has a key but me.
So should I be bothered? I am kinda freaked only bc I have no idea how it could have happened nor do I know who would have changed it to that.
So your phone didn't link up to the car? I know it's oddly coincidental given that you could identify as a hippie, but I'm wondering if someone tried to pair their device near your car and it somehow got linked to yours. Weirder things have happened with technology.

I think I'd be unnerved though.
I thought that at first but it was my car Bluetooth name that was changed, not like someone else's phone or what have you. That's what is really weird. It was Toyota cartalk or something similar the last time I was in my car.

What a weird ass thing to hack and so very specific. Like someone could possibly call me a dirty hippie but not really. I'm more of a clean and nice hippie. Plus nobody at work knows my hippieish side anyway. I'm just regular looking office worker at work.
I need ham like water Like breath, like rain I need ham like mercy From Heaven's gate Sometimes ham salad or casserole or ham that’s free range, all natural I need ham
Yeah- that would bother me, probably more so if mine was changed to something similar but, not as nice, as what I call myself.
Yeah! Like you Denver girls know me, we've met. Someone could call me a hippie. But I'm not like some patchouli wearing flower child. I don't have white girl dreads.
Yeah, that's totally creepy. I'd call the Toyota dealer and ask if it's a known issue. Then I'd probably join a techie forum and ask. Clearly I don't do well with things that can't be explained.

Bah. It's just weird.
You definitely don't look like a hippie but I was wondering if someone might have overheard you call yourself "hippie"? I hope it's just random but it's really weird.

I'm not even at the office long enough for anyone to really know me. But my car stays there overnight when I'm out of town with a company car.
I'm gonna ask the security guard. We have one 24/7.

Oh, man. I'm sorry. I'd definitely be creeped out.

You can change the name easily from the console. But that sort of freaks me out that someone was in your car, so I'm throwing my money at the bored hacker theory. O.o

Yeah I know the name can be easily changed, but my car was locked in a secure garage that nobody but employees have access to and my keys were with me in a different city. Plus nobody at work would call me a dirty hippie in an endearing way, so it feels like a personal attack.
