That's very thick, coarse, and prone to frizzing.
I've been growing my hair out because I wanted something different. But the problem is as it's gotten longer and heavier, it's pulled my 2B waves into a 2A and the products I had been using have become way too heavy.
Here's a pic I snapped today because I'm getting it cut and wanted to show my stylist what it looks like (I went for a run, so now it's in a pony).. ETA: I have no product in, so it's extra frizz.

I have a lot of thick curly/wavy hair (not sure number type) prone to frizz especially when the humidity hits. Plus it doesn't start at my roots, so I can never really wear it in waves. So I blow it out then curl or straighten it to get out the remaining frizz (which honestly doesn't ever really go away for me).
Now that you know too much about my hair, LOL and didn't even ask
I use It's a Ten, which is pretty lightweight. But then I also use Pureology (because I color too) Intense Smoothing cream. If you're just wanting the waves, the It's a Ten might work.
Doesn't look terribly frizzy to me. I really like Aveda Smoothing infusion styling cream, it's a gel-like cream. the Garnier curl sculpt is similar and way cheaper but they're part of the L'oreal group.
I sometimes spray it after the cream with verb salt spray or whatever it's called.
Do you do the microfiber towel or T shirt drying thing, minimizing touching it while drying, etc? Or a diffuser can make better curls.
The Deva Curl coconut curl cream is really great at defining my curls and keeping them soft but not too soft. I also use a John Frieda mousse for frizz. For drying my hair I wrap it all up in a t shirt and do the 'plopping' method and that works great.

I finger comb with conditioner in the shower. When I'm done I use a towel and twist like here:
I think we have similar hair - aaaand I have nothing of use to add really because I never worked out what to do with my hair when it got longer than an inch or so past my shoulders.
It's currently chin length and I use either Shea Moisture Gel-Cream (pink tube) or OGX Coconut Curl mousse. The gel-cream might work for the longer length, but the mouse probably would not.

I have similar hair that's between 2A and 2B depending on how I style it. Mine's also thick and heavy and I can always tell when it's time for a trim when I get headaches from the weight and I can't get it to hold a style well. My three go to products for bringing out my waves are to use Aphogee Curlrific Texture Treatment conditioner and scrunch in AG Recoil styling cream and Living Proof Curl Enhancing mousse before plopping then drying most of the way with a diffuser.

I love your hair! I have curly hair now, but used to have hair like that. I'd use a wave/curly cream on your hair while you're in the shower. Comb/brush it when it's soaking wet. Squeeze the water out with a scrunching motion (but you're scrunching clumps, not lots of little separated pieces), and then add some curl cream. (Bumble and bumble is my fave--they have a few different products I like)
Then just leave it alone or plop it (Google plopping plus curly for a tutorial).
2curlydogs you owe us an post-cut picture now btw. Also I want to see it non-salon styled.
Here's what it looks like straightened:
I'll try and get a photo today. It's day 2 hair that I touched up a bit with some smoothing serum to control the frizz/flyaways and a curling iron. Looked cute yesterday though.
