Poll: How long did you date before getting engaged

Dated 9 months, were engaged for 9 months. We'd been friends throughout most of college so we already knew each other. I didn't see the point of dragging out the engagement. We were awfully young. We've been married 7 years though and it's worked out so far!

I'm not really sure how to answer. We had been chatting on the internet for 6 years when we met in person, and DH proposed 6 months after that meeting. We knew it was right for use about 3 years into our relationship. Eighteen months after DH proposed, we bought my ring, and we had our civil service eighteen months after that, which worked out to be 9 and 1 1/2 years after we first began chatting.

We met about 6 years ago, dated after 6 months. Did that for... about 2 years, got engaged, engaged for 10 months & been married close to 2 years. We talked marriage since pretty much day 1.

Yay NL and wise_rita. We also are not married, but it took a lot for me to commit to this relationship enough to live with someone again, so I am positive it's going to last. I actually had a wedding once upon a time, complete with engagement ring and all, which is why committing at all was difficult for me. And for us, ceremony is a moot point since we can't be married!

We got engaged 6 months (to the day) after we met, then married 8 months later.

We've been together for 10 yrs and we are still not married. We moved in together after 9 months and got engaged after 5 yrs. But still no wedding. Not unusual at all in Sweden

We started dating at 22, engaged at 23, married at 24 (technically I was 25 but only for a few days). We had our first kid at 31.

6 years dating (2 or 3 of those were long distance) before engagement, 1.5 year engagement, been married for 8.5 years -- so, last month we celebrated 16 years together.

You never declared me engaged though
