New here... curling wand?

Hi ladies, a friend of mine just got this L'Ange (?) curling wand and loves it.  She has thick, naturally wavy hair.  I, on the other hand, have stick straight fine hair.  Any suggestions for a good curling wand?  My hair stylist showed me some tricks this week but didn't offer any recommendations, just that I need a thinner one for my short-ish hair.

I use a curling iron because I'm clumsy. I love my Hot Tools brand.

My hair stylist also recommends the Hot Tools brand to me. I am hair-inept and my hair styling pretty much consists of drying my bangs.

My Sedu curling wand is awesome. It's the only tool that gives me curls that don't fall out.

TJ Maxx, Marshall's etc always have curling wands and other hot tools. I was looking there before I bought mine, but never found the right size.

My tj Maxx has so many wands this past weekend. I’d check there first. I like my sultra wand.

I have a totally different hair type but I really like my Hot Tools products.

With the caveat that I have thick, fairly cooperative hair that will hold a curl for days, I just have 2 cheapo Remingtons (1-1.5in. and 1.5-2in.) that work great. They heat up really fast and are very smooth. I decided my first was worth a try since it's $20 on Amazon and I liked it enough to buy the other size for variety. I don't know that I'd get better results with a more expensive wand, but I've never used one, either.

Thanks ladies! I wound up ordering one from Zulily - I had store credit there and figured that way it's "free" to try one out. TJ Maxx will be my next stop if I want an upgrade!
