LO and I are STILL fighting off our bugs. MH has been traveling for work a bunch. I've had a lot of extra stuff on my plate. Self care has therefore been rather low. I got in some hobby time between making birthday decor and Halloween costume for LO. We had a family fun night one evening. LO and I bought a variety of fun sundae toppings and made a wacky, loaded sundae that was both fun to make together and pleasant on our sore throats.

Just been doing the minimum necessary to get through my days, since I am still coughing a lot and short of breath, and tired from the pneumonia. We have probably been getting takeout more than we should, but it's been good for me to take a break from all the cooking and cleaning. I'm still making simple soups, salads and smoothies for myself, but it's all stuff that needs minimal prep. Very thankful that I only work 20 hours a week right now, because it's pretty exhausting and I can't imagine working any more than that right now.
I've looked up recovery from pneumonia and it seems that it's normal for people to feel tired and have symptoms for weeks or even months after. Gah. I need to feel better FAST! I don't have a supportive partner, I can't afford to take it easy.
I am not kicking self-care in the ass in any way, shape, or form. I got a couple nice walks in but have been dining out with adult beverages and my sleep sucks. DH and I planned a fun date last Saturday and he spontaneously invited my mother along. She had a blast at the brew pub, so that's good. DH and I had a couples date with some friends last night- nice Italian place with fun conversation.
DS has been working almost daily, some weekend days from 8am until midnight. The only fall themed activity we did together was me running him to CVS for a flu shot. And I'm considered to be the "fun parent".
Last week: I managed to walk twice on the treadmill in the early part of the week.
Diet was pretty much thrown out the window on the weekend.
The first part of DS's costume I got it all over the bottom of a tree trunk and some rocks on our apartment complex and I prayed for rain to wash it out. Someone on our apartment complex took out the tree stump while I was at work or overnight.
The second part of DS's costume was better and I was able to paint over pieces of cardboard but the paint made an outline of the pieces of card board on the ground on parking lot. No amount of water or vinegar would get it out. It made a stain of vinegar as well.
The third part of DS's costume was a disaster with the wrong color of yellow spray paint. I did end up with spraying bits of it on the cement. I was able to get some vinegar and water and was able to rinse it mostly but you can see the cement the color of neon yellow very lightly. I painted with finger paint yellow by hand to recover the costume part but I still needed to buy more yellow paint on Friday.
On Friday, I forgot to gloss the entire first two parts of the costume and remembered to do it with two coats of gloss. I also bought the right yellow paint and a My Little Pony shirt for me.
Friday and Saturday was to paint over with yellow over the neon yellow on the third part.
Saturday, I painted the finishing touches with some black paint and did the eyes on the third part.
On Saturday, MIL came over to spend time with us and took us to lunch. She brought her dog over and our cat was not too happy about that. Our cat finally got use to the dog by keeping a safe distance away. When we got back from lunch all she did was watch Netflix with DS on the sofa. I retreated to doing several loads of laundry and painting the costume in between cycles.
MIL thinks I have no chores to do but to visit her and have us spend the night in her house all the time. She cooked dinner way to early because she was bored and wanted to stay with DS while I go get eggs twice. I told her I was doing laundry and that it had to wait. After I was done with one cycle to sit for a break, she asked a second time for eggs. I am sorry but she should have brought eggs before she came over or called and asked if I have any eggs before she came over. MIL said she was going to visit for a bit but DH said she was going to spend the night. I am glad she went home when she did and hope she realizes that I had that much laundry every weekend and that we don't have a lot of time to visit her. To be fair, I have specific time slots for her on the weekend that don't include sleeping over.
Each time I finished a part DS had to try on the costume. DS tried the costume on on Saturday and he loved it.
I love making DS's costume from year to year just for DS. It helps me relieve stress and it keeps me busy.
This week: I plan to exercise at least twice. I managed to do it once yesterday.
I hope diet will be okay despite Halloween.
Today, there is a trunk or treat DS and I will go to where there will be free food, games and a costume contest. I have not seen a costume contest since I was in Girl Scouts and elementary school. Of course, this would be huge for us after all the hard work we put into it.
Tomorrow is another trunk or treat.
I think I might be able to get some more time to watch Netflix since the costume is done and Halloween will be over after tomorrow.
I hope you guys under the weather feel better soon.
I have been lagging at self care. Stopped exercising & eating well over the past few months. Everything just feels overwhelming- work, house repairs, freaking rats in our garage, van repairs, DD. To top it off, on the way into pre-K today, a girl told her mother that DD "does bad things." Nice reminder no one likes your kid. Ugh, I feel like I'm getting depressed. Sorry if this turned into a rant.
Challenge: DD is excited to go trick or treating tonight. She'll be a mermaid-luckily no rain forecasted today.
Last week: We did trick-or-treat on Saturday at an event where kids with special needs got in an hour before everyone else and there was a "calm down" tent. That made everything go pretty smooth. DS was Marshall from Paw Patrol and I wore a Skye headband at his request. They also T-o-T at school on Tuesday. And that made Halloween a stay at home and relax evening.
This week: I'm meeting a friend for lunch tomorrow. I haven't done that in a long time.
Challenge: I work this weekend, but I have some fall things planned for later in the month.
Not so great. I am PMSing hard core this weekend and today. Pray for me it is better tomorrow. DH was pretty supportive of it though, and kicked me out of the house on Sunday for me time. I went to Target with my gift cards and out to a movie.
With DS's PT and OT I've been concentrating on that rather than exercising myself. The plan is try to get DS out of PT by the end of the year/ in the next 6 weeks and then only have OT left. He has been in it 10 weeks, I think so far.
