So if you've had boys I have a few questions. What age did you start the first time and were you successful the first time, what age were they finally PTed? Did they stand or sit to pee? Any special tricks that make them different than girls?
I need to sign H up for preschools in January if he's going to go next year and idk if he will be PTed in time lol. All the little boys I know IRL were over 3 when they PTed, and he will start just a few weeks after turning 3.
K was pt pee before 3 but not poop til 4 M was pt pee and poop before k maybe around 2.5 S is 2.25 now and begs to pee but whose got time for that! Diapers kid
Both my boys PTd at 3. For both we just started a few weeks ahead of time saying”3 year olds don’t wear diapers” then had them help throw the diapers away when the day came. I️ did a modified 3 day method with both and both were done by the 3rd day. It did help in my opinion that we waited until 3. They started sitting down. I’m not sure when they started standing - maybe a few months later?
A started at 2.5. H was earlier— 2.25. I started both the January before the September they would be starting pre-school. A took a little more time and management (we did rewards with him) and he was pretty much accident free after three months. H was way faster— he just wanted to be like brother!
Blake was almost 4 before he finally got it - I think some of that was because of the apraxia. Colton was 2.25 when he was fully potty trained. To this day, he has never had an accident at nap time or overnight (Blake was in pull-ups at night until 5 so this was a miracle to me!).
Neither liked the little potty, and liked the insert on the potty. Agree with getting a stool so they can stand - C still uses the stool as he’s still too short to get it over without. If we’re out, he just sits.
W was around 3. I give most credit to daycare. The room that he was in at the time pretty much put every kid on the potty like once an hour! He started by sitting to pee and did that for probably 6mos after he was trained. Prior to officially starting to PT, we would put him on the potty every few hours...or if we went to change the diaper and it was dry.

I’m only in the midst, so no real help. Logan started showing interested a couple months ago. We fed into his excitement but it wore off quickly. He still asks occasionally to pee and he poops on the potty 95% of the time. But we’re no where near dry diapers or anything.
Our biggest struggle is peeing in public. How the hell do you do this without having to strip them down naked? Pants at the ankles prohibits the penis from actually being in the damn toilet?! Summer was easy. Shorts and crocs were easy enough to take off completely. But now with jeans and real shoes, it’s just too much.
Peyton was a beast to potty train. She was poop trained at 18m which was cool, but pee training was hell. She’d show interest and then change her mind. We on and off tried from 18m-2.5yo. Finally I gave up a few months before Logan was due. A couple months later at 1 month shy of 3yo, she woke up and declared no more diapers (day and night) and that was it, fully trained no accidents. I swore to myself I wouldn’t bother forcing Logan because that did nothing for Peyton. So I’m just hanging out following his lead.
with L i waited until he was about 2.75 (January, he is April birthday). It felt late compared to others but it was one weekend, never had any issues so it was worth it. We never did pull ups, straight to underwear. A is 2.5 now and I'm hoping to do over thanksgiving. He sits on the potty at school and wants to be big like his brother so I'm hoping it clicks fast.
Thanks all! I really hate PTing, I wish there was somewhere around here I could send him in the spring and they'd train him lol. It is good to hear that lots of boys potty trained before or right at 3!

I do wonder if H's speech delay will delay his ability to potty train. I'd say his verbal speech is around 19 months now (he's 27 months) so I do feel like that might impact his ability to tell us when he has to go or what he needs.

I tried to potty train A right after her 2nd birthday and it was such a disaster I did not try that this time! Right when she turned 2.5 it's like a light flipped, and she was ready. I do not see that light happening with H in 3 months lol.
Andrew is refusing to potty train right now. He loves his diapers. I'm not going to force it.
He will actually tell me when he peeing in his diaper. The other day he was whispering under his breath "I'm not going to pee in the potty" while he peed in his diaper

Lol pretty sure this is going to be H. If I ask if he wants to pee in the potty he shouts NOOOO and runs away.
