It has been awhile since I posted about DD's troop merging with a new troop. While some of the adults (who dd trusts and knows) are around sporadically from the old troop, dd is dealing with adults with neurotypical kids and no sped experience and all new girls.
I stay in the meeting to provide support still but she is doing well. She is doing better than me. While everyone is nice, I haven't had to deal with nt parents for awhile.
Hopefully I can pull back more as the year progresses. We are even trying an overnight indoor (non camping, stay up all night) experience.
Boy scouts have been OK for us. They had a hike in 30 degree weather when I had to work, and DH would have had to take DS and the 4 year old, so we probably have to make that one up. Otherwise, I think I need to sign up for bowling. It has kept us busy, and we are meeting new people in the community, so I guess it is good. It is almost too many events, but oh well. And DH is finally coming around to going to some of these events.
agedsubaru, I'm so glad it's working out! Our troop just did a meeting with the school counselor to talk about kindness and learn about conflict resolution, and she taught the girls how to use conflict ladders to work through both sides of a conflict. The girls were so into it.
I think that GS can be such a positive experience if the troop is well-managed. I hope your DD has fun at the overnight!
