Does anyone want to do 18 in 18? I would be interested and I won't pick as many lipsticks since I'm on a gloss kick these days.
Year end Check In
Here's how I did. I don't know if/when I'll finish these lipsticks. I really slowed down my progress these past few months because I've been home recovering from surgery so rarely used makeup.
1. IT Cosmetics No Tug Liner 2. NARS Satin lip pencil 3. NYX Soft matte lip cream London 4. UD Lipstick liar 5. UD Lipstick Rapture 6. NARS Lipgloss supervixen 7. Julep matte lip mousse 8. NARS concealer 9. Julep Primer 10. Cover girl Primer 11. Too faced Natural Mattes Palette - hit pan on one shade and the rest have dips. I've used this palette in some way everytime I've done my eye makeup. Proud of making so much progress! 12. Hourglass blush palette 13. Hourglass ambient lighting palette - This will never die!! I have one shade that's almost gone and another that is worn down. 14. ABH dip brow 15. Laura Geller baked foundation travel size 16. Tarte park ave princess bronzer 17. Manuka doctor drops of crystal beautifying oil - barely used this. Maybe I'll add it back for next year. Ha.
I finished everything except the blush and highlight which is what I expected. I actually had a good dip going in the highlight and then it broke and I repressed it and it looks brand new again lol. These projects are definitely helping me keep my spending in check. It's really been helpful seeing how long things take to use up. I'm totally in for an 18 in 2018.
I failed miserably at finishing my products, and only touched a few of them once or twice all year. That said, it was a great exercise in showing me what I should and shouldn't keep in my collection, and I made some deep dents in a few products that I previously hadn't really touched. The blushes will never pan--they're all so pigmented!
My original list:
Naked 2 (panned almost every shade) Benefit Hervana blush (didn't touch, will toss) Too Faced Candlelight powder (didn't touch, and now can't remember seeing it in my box of makeup to use this year--need to check) Bobbi Brown Antigua blush (DONE!) Rouge Bunny Rouge Delicate Hummingbird eyeshadow single (didn't really touch even though it's gorgeous) Houglass Luminous Flush blush (deep dent, but no pan) Hourglass Mood Exposure blush (moderate dent, no pan) Laura Mercier Courtisanne lipstick (didn't touch, will toss) MAC Copperplate eyeshadow single (huge pan, will repurchase) Bobbi Brown Bronzed Heather lipgloss (didn't touch, will toss) Benefit Dandelion lipgloss (didn't touch, will toss) UD Stray Dog eyeliner (almost finished) UD Sabbath eyeliner (almost finished) UD Ether eyeliner (didn't touch, will toss) UD Midnight Cowboy eyeliner (maybe halfway finished) Bobbi Brown Sandy Gold cream eyeshadow (deep dent) Giorgio Armani primer--deluxe sample (DONE!)

Sure. 1. Crush up the product in the pan as much as possible. 2. Add a few drops of isopropyl alcohol and mix until it's a putty like consistency. The amount varies per product. Go slow it takes forever to dry otherwise. 3. I like to scrape all the product into a mount in the center of the pan and then press using a sheet of paper towel and something flat like a foundation cap. I usually press 2 or 3 times to soak up as much alcohol as I can. 4. I then let it dry for a few days. It might get little cracks in it but they usually aren't deep.
The Becca powders press really easily and my highlighter looks the same as before. The Beauty News girls have some good videos on repressing if you want to see it first. Also I don't recommend adding anything else besides the alcohol. I've seen some tutorials where they add a drop of oil to soften the powder but I tried it and it just sealed up my product and ruined it.

teach me your ways. I need to toss stuff but I have such issues about it.
This at least inspired me to toss my Hervana, though. I liked it fine but it would not end. I've been using it almost every day for 3 years and it still has the same sized silver hole in the middle.

I had to press a Becca highlighter yesterday, first time I ever broke any makeup (that I just couldn't throw away). It is a tiny sample one...enough to last me my whole life...and it pressed beautifully!

All but 2 are gone. A Becca cream blush, which I should probably toss because it's old, and Maybelline Fit Me Foundation, there's so little time when it's the right color for me.
I'd love to do this next year. I think I said I'd do it and then forgot. Or planned to sign up and then forgot. Not sure. But I think it would be a good focus for next year for me.
I’m also interested in doing this in 2018. I need to toss about half of my lipstick drawer too.
Anyone interested in a giant New Year’s purge/trade/sell thread?
Definitely. I have so much stuff that I feel wrong tossing in the garbage like palettes I used only a few times. I have a lot of brand new Revlon stuff I won in a giveaway and I know I won't touch.

I would do an 18 in 2018 and participate in a B/S/T. I have crap tons of samples that I know I will never use (especially perfumes) that I would be happy to pass along.
Hah- I wouldn't even know where to start to do that. It would be nice if I could snap my fingers and make all the behind the scenes work happen. Thanks for the vote of confidence, though!
