I usually love fall, but I'm going to have a love/hate relationship with it this year. My usual reason for loving fall is the food. Chili, apple-y, pumpkin-y stuff to bake, football food, Halloween candy..LOVE IT ALL. But I need to not be giganto anymore, so I'm going to have to settle for loving fall because it's easier to cover this body with sweaters and jeans than tank tops and shorts ;-)
(And hopefully, after not eating all that stuff, I'll reward myself with some new designer skinny jeans on this hopefully skinny body.)

I plan to celebrate fall AND get skinny by consuming nothing but hot apple cider for the next 3 months.
Wait a sec...how can a huge football fan (yes, I'm talking about you misscopz) hate fall???
I was about to say the same thing. Fall=football and cooler temps and football and pumpkin spice lattes and football and running in clothes other than tank tops and shorts and football and fall scented things and football and boots and football and sleeping with the windows open and FOOTBALL. I'm so over summer heat at this point, so bring it on autumn!

See I fully feel fall, even in CA. This is why I don't get the "but I like four seeeeeee-soooooons" argument. Fall is different from summer. Sure, it's 70 degrees, but when walking the dogs in the evening you're in a sweatshirt rather than a tank top. Totally different. Still awesome.
Fall isn't just the change in temperature - it's the leaves changing color, that 'fall' smell in the air. And yes, being chilly and being able to wear sweaters and drink hot beverages without being uncomfortable.
But, it's supposed to be 97 degrees here today, so I'm feeling a bit deprived

I just want to EXPERIENCE fall. Colorful leaves. Cooler temps. Sweaters. Boots. Soups. They all sound DIVINE.
Signed, She who lives in the land of perpetual, sweltering summer
I disagree. You can still totally feel fall, and I always loved it. That first cold front of the season, hopefully by Halloween, is the best! Even if the leaves don't change, the air feels and smells different. It's the first time you can open windows after running a/c all summer, and it totally smells different. It was always my favorite season (halloween, birthday, thanksgiving!)
I think I must be really sensitive to micro-seasonal change b/c I feel it in Honolulu. And while we'll never have even a fall like S FL, since there's no chance of a cold front, I still felt the difference the other night.
I do miss that first crisp cool weather, though. Pumpkin latte just isn't the same when you're dying for ice cubes.
I've always loved fall, but now even more so since living in an area where summer sucks.
That said, they're calling it "fall" here and sbux is pushing the PSLs, but daytime temps remain in the high 80's. And in early November, we'll still have red leaves but anything fall-related will be long gone from retail because it's "out of season"
No way. You need to experience fall in New York. It is gorgeous here. The trees are still green, but a couple are starting to turn bright red and orange. Still in the 60s and 70s. Gah. It's gorgeous.

I'm with Sibil, I can smell a difference. The trees are different too, except they go from dormant to dead. Fall/winter is our springtime when everything gets water again.
Does the midwest not have foliage? That would be so sad.
I can't imagine not loving fall....its the most beautiful time in New England.
Exactly. I love fall so, so much. I am thrilled that the summer heat has broken, I love having all my windows open and waking up all chilly with a cold nose and my blanket up to neck.

I thought fall in the midwest was stunning...The trees were all different colors and there were some amazing FIRE red leaves I've never seen anywhere else.
Also in Indiana, there was just so much...harvesting! I loved it.

Fall in Colorado is better though
It's stunning until it gets cold. I remember some years in Wisconsin where it would get super cold and snow in October, so fall had about a month and that was it.
We either have foliage or a total freaking drop. Where you go to bed with leaves on the trees and then in the morning every single leaf is on the ground.

I'm with you. I mean, there are parts of fall I enjoy but I LOVE summer and HATE winter so it just means crap weather is coming. I also hate how everything gets brown and bare.
