I use something like this for my lip products that I keep out. It's not perfect, but it works. I use a Lucite letter sorter for the palettes I want to keep out. All the rest must fit on a large white platter. If it doesn't fit in any of that, it goes into my train case (storage only). I try to rotate every month or two, but need to do a better job with that.
I guess makeup storage is hard for me cuz I hate open storage or anything being on the surface of my vanity, but haven't figured out a good way to store stuff like lip glosses in a deepish drawer.

I hate stuff being out, too, but I found I don’t use as much when it’s hidden. I forget about items, can’t see things, and i lack incentive to stay organized because it’s nice and tucked away in a closed drawer.
I had these and hated them. Not sure why, I gave them to my sisters and they like them. I just didn’t feel I could store things to see the color (like Mac, but others too).
So...sort of embarrassing but at one point I threw them in a sink. I live by myself now so I can do whatever I want, and to be fair, it was easy to see everything I had. Lol. But after a few (6?) months of that I thought I should be an adult and get it together. I cleared out a drawer and they all go in there in lucite containers. Glosses go in a lucite box meant for pencils.
