shauni27, ours is behind the passenger seat. We were actually able move the seat back one notch from where it needed to be with the bucket seat, and DH (6’0) and I (5’8) both sit in that seat no prob. Would move the seat further back if we had the choice? Yes, but it’s totally workable.
We did remove the bar thing though (technical term escapes me at the moment). It would probably be too tight if we hadn’t.
shauni27, re: the bucket seat taking up so much room in your H's truck... I've found that bucket seats often take up more room than convertibles in front to back space. We put E's 4Ever in the same spot we had his bucket in, and we have more room for the front passenger. Pretty much everyone except our tallest friend (who is 6'7") could sit in front is his seat RF. Granted, the 4Ever is one of the shorter seats in terms of front to back space, but you may be surprised. The bucket seats have those handles and the bases, and those add inches.
My dad has a Fllo in his VW Golf (pretty small car) and it’s behind the passenger seat and the seat has to be pushed pretty far forward. I think someone can sit in it, but it’s really tight. I have a foonf in my car and if I sit in the passenger seat it’s a bit tight but not a big deal. I have a small SUV.
We moved DS when he was 10 months. We don’t have a car but use a car share fairly often. From around 7 months he seemed to hate his infant seat and would scream whenever he was in it (the 5 hour drive home from my dad at Easter was fun). I think maybe he was hot and/or squished? He’s not a big guy and would probably still fit in it according to height limits, weight he’s definitely still ok for it but he hated it.
He seems much happier now in his ‘big seat’ (I’m not sure what to call it as it doesn’t convert to anything, it’s RF only) and I think the fact that he sits much higher makes it possible for him to look out and see the other cars. I do miss the ease of installing the infant seat (either seat belt only or just clicking in the base) and the weight of the big seat makes it impossible to lug around (I’m not taking that thing on the train so both my parents had to buy their own seats)
