I need to call MIL and see if she will babysit sometime this week. Library activities are cancelled this week and I already feel stir crazy from it.
G turns 3 on Friday! And birthday party on Saturday. So I still need need to clean my house, buy party supplies, and decorate. Plus my mom convinced me to make a cake and said she would help.G switched from a superhero party to a princess party so we are gonna make this cake. What am I thinking?!?
bk1 : My Mom used to make castle cakes for birthdays! It ended up being one of her favourite cakes so I guess they're not bad once you know how to make them? Mind you, my Mom dislikes making plain cakes so there's that, haha. I want to continue the tradition and make fun cakes for C but I do not have my mother's skills. Her 1st birthday cake is going to a plain mini cake from a teddy bear mould but we may decorate a second "grown up" cake like so:
Or we'll just make cheesecake because no one has decorating expectations for that! ETA: Yes my DD's birthday isn't until March but I wanted to make sure we remember to test cake making beforehand so we picked early. SaveSave
I made G's first birthday cake. I did a giant cupcake as a smash cake and cupcakes for everyone else. I've never made decorative cakes but my mom has years ago so hoping it will work. I'll share pics for sure. Thankfully my mom has all the tools needed so it will be cheap too!

Awesome cake! I am starting to think about J's birthday...we did bigger parties at a rec center for ages 1 and 2, but most of the kids are my friends' kids who are older, and I can't figure out a fun activity for everyone (except bowling, but my list of people was 45 and parties only go up to 25).
I am thinking of just doing a lunch at his favorite train restaurant with my parents and brothers/brothers' wives. But he'd have more fun at a party this year than he did at 1 or 2, so I feel bad not doing it.

We're taking E to the gymnastics place on Thu that we're having his party at. They have open play for $5 so I figured it would be a good way to check out the place! I'm excited to bring him there, I think he will love it! Our friend's son was apparently super excited when he found out we were doing the party there so I'm happy that's what we went with!

bk1- Happy birthday G!! Can’t believe she is already 3! She is so precious!! Good luck with the cake! Can’t wait to see pictures!
C starts preschool on Wednesday! So many feelings. I just hope he has a blast! I am also hoping L will do 1 nap on preschool days so I can run and have some special time with just him (otherwise he will nap most of the time C is in preschool).
Also, DH’s BFF is likely going to need daycare one day every other week (so 2ish days/month) next school year. They have two boys similar ages. His wife offered it to me (they would pay me). I think we will do it but it means I will be stuck at home those days and I have irrational anxiety of “what if” in an emergency situation (like L can’t breathe, someone falls badly, etc)...I can’t transport 4 kids in my Subaru Forester.
Also, today is the first anniversary of my FIL's death. It's weird to think of all that has happened in the past year.
We had a memory bear made for A, and she just started waving hi and by to it when she notices it in her room, as well as giving it snuggles and kisses.
MIL said she would watch the girls tomorrow. Woot. I'm going to drop them off in the morning and pick them up after lunch. It's a lot of extra driving (an hour to get there, drop the girls off and get back into town) but it will be worth it. I need to pick up the last of the supplies for the birthday party and work on making decorations for the cake.

C had his first day of preschool today! I think we both did great (a little emotional on my end because “my baby”! And he said he missed me but totally had a great time and didn’t cry at drop off)!!
But...teachers words to me at pick up was “He throws things” 🤣. Yes, yes he does. We tell him he can only throw balls and he gets timeouts for it. Anything else we can be doing at home? Nope, he will learn eventually.
Honestly, C is mostly awesome but he has very strong emotions (which I guess is normal but it feels not normal sometimes...his pedi insists it’s normal for now) and tends to hit and bite...so, I feel ok that at least one of those two things didn’t happen today. Praying he is much better behaved there than at home. Seems like he is because they were doing circle time just before pick up and he was being so good. Director said he had a blast with play dough too and he told me about his coloring, they read a bear book, and sang Jesus Loves Me (it’s a Christian preschool)!
And, while he was there, L and I came home, he napped, and I got our bedroom and bathroom cleaned! He woke up and we got ready for our walk down to pick C up and then we all walked home! Taking them out for frozen yogurt and a little walk after naps!

A had her 2 month checkup today and got shots. She woke up a little bit ago just screaming. Didn't want the bottle, wouldn't calm down for H so I took A and attempted to nurse her or do skin to skin and that didn't work either. Then she puked all over me. Thanks kid! Poor girl is a tiny bit better but still really fussy. I'm thinking it's the shots but who knows. She doesn't seem to have a fever. I can't remember from E, is this normal?
estrellita I vote normal. DS was a beast after his 2 month shots. I was like, what happened to my sweet baby? He did much better with the next round (I think at 4 months?)

estrellita- ditto this. L had a HORRIBLE time with two month shots...so much so that I talked to the pediatrician about it at 4 months scared to do them all again (he was a mess for a good week). Her advice was to just KOKO, hope for the best mentality because splitting them up would just mean he is miserable longer. Thankfully shots have been so much better since. He had a rough time after his 15 month shots but not as bad as 2 months.
krystee- days and nights are mixed up. It will change eventually. Hope you guys get some sleep soon!
I’ve been MIA this week. B’s daycare teacher unexpectedly passed away a few days ago and we’ve all been struggling. H and I haven’t had a chance to sit down and discuss what we are going to say to B. No one at her school has said anything to the children but they have all seen their other teachers and parents crying and definitely know something’s up. Part of me just wants to say nothing at all so I can protect her from the sadness. But I know she will eventually ask and i don’t want to be caught off guard.
My dad... sigh. He just forwarded me an email with the news of whether my cousin's baby is a boy or girl. Email tells me not to spread it around FB until they say it's ok. Um. No dad, I'm not you sharing people's baby news before they do (he shared that A was born on FB before we did and had to get him to take it down ASAP before people saw it. I'm still pissed about it). Why would I even do that and why does he feel the need to tell me not to? Maybe he's just reminding himself not to share other people's news? Sigh.
C did great at his second day of preschool (and didn’t throw anything!)!!
He isn’t napping on preschool days and is a beast early evening. Yay for early bedtime!
We decided to try a one nap day for L and so far it’s going well! We went to Cirner Bakery for breakfast and to the regional park for a walk! Came home for lunch and naps. I went for a run while they napped (first time without a kid in 3 years)...5.4 miles and a 1 mile walk home!
Planning to run with my dad and the boys in the morning while DH goes mountain bike riding! We are staying home for a Super Bowl and making pizzas!! Great weekend!
