There is a ninja warrior sleepaway camp! Amazing! There is a camp for everything!
How do I find camp fairs? I haven't seen any around here.
Ours is sponsored by the local "Parents" magazine that they hand out in day cares and schools all around town that is 75%+ advertisements. It's in a local mall.
So I just saw on Facebook that there is some over the counter drug that is supposed to be better for the flu than Tamiflu. The post was freaking out because she has a sick kid and has been to every store in town, and they are out. I just spent $30 on Amazon to get it shipped by Monday in case one of mine get sick. Beer safe than sorry amiright?

The past couple years I've pinterested like a crazy lady for valentines. Today we picked up the cheapo ones from Target - power rangers and trolls. My kids are so happy and so is my wallet.
I also got out of there without buying them a bunch of stuff we don't need. Just toilet paper and valentines. This is growth, ladies!

rere I thought my local mom board might actually ignite over oscillicullum and elderberry debates. It was amusing reading.
This year I am cutting out hearts and putting one on each kid’s door with a “you are” note every day through Valentines. They LOVE it. I ordered the paper on Amazon and it was one of the overpay for convenience things ($4 I think for pink and red paper pack) but then we bought valentines at dollar tree because I am slacking this year, too. Super cute cards with adorable buttons.
Need valentine gift ideas for the kids. Thinking I usually do pjs. Anything different than pjs and candy? DD said she wants a personalized letter and won’t elaborate on WTF that means.
We looked at houses today. I'm officially traumatized.
There were a whopping total of 4 houses that loosely met our criteria: House 1: Not in our target neighborhoods. Gets us to better schools than we're zoned for, but still is in our district that has massive budget issues and is cutting out schools right and left. HUGE house. Huge garage. Backs up against a running trail. Priced really nicely - we could make any/all changes and be well within our budget. The first floor has a guest room and a full bath, which would be great for my mom. But... wrong neighborhood. And it will sell before we even list our house. House 2: Was really a 2 bed 1 bath, not 3 bed 1 bath that they'd advertised. Close to a major street. Realtor expects it to sell for close to $1.6M. Thanks for listing it for $1.1M, asshole. House 3: Perfect neighborhood, great schools, stupid layout. Worst layout ever. No possibility of adding on or up. Will likely sell at the top of our budget. House 4: Bargain flip. Will still likely sell for a ton, and needs massive amounts of work.
I'm basically doubting our decision to sell. I need someone to hold me and tell me what to do. I need an unbiased grown up, basically.
A child has influenza in DD's preschool class. Pray that no one else gets it.
I am PMSing and told my H to stop pressuring me to go to his physical trainer. I know he means well, but I don't like being pressured. I am not overweight. I could lose 5-10 pounds but so could everyone so that isn't the reason. He just doesn't understand that I want to finish DS's physical therapy first before I worry about anything else.
k3am- we were not selling a house nor were we in an area with such high prices as you, and I still found the home buying process terrible. Good luck.

k3am, I don't have any real advice on whether you should sell or not, but I can commiserate with the house hunting truma.
I took a new job in a new city fully expecting that we'd be able to find something well within our budget - as the average housing cost was supposedly 25% lower than our old city. Once we started looking we were shocked to find that a decent house in a good neighbourhood was generally priced even higher than our old city. We got into a bidding war on one house and lost, and everything in the neighbourhood we were looking at were selling within a week of listing, and there weren't that many listings to begin with .
The good news is perseverance wins the day! After about 6 months we found something we liked. It still wasn't perfect, but now that we've been here a few months, I love it. All the little flaws no longer bother me
I also love our neighbourhood. DS has made some fantastic friends in kindergarten, and the school seems much better than what I've ever heard of, so I feel good about the stupid amount of money we paid to be in this area.
k3am - we moved to the best schools in our area outside of the richest of the rich enclave. I constantly second guess this decision. Constantly. The top ten percent (key for college admissions here) have GPAs over 4.0. So DD has to take honors classes and has to get a 97 or above in some of them. She cannot get a B in a regular class. The top 25 percent have 3.9 plus GPAs. It’s insane.
My point is we should have considered some less desirable districts with solid neighborhood schools for elementary, middle schools that perform decently and high schools that are safe.
So to me, worst case you get a bigger house in a neighborhood that isn’t on your list but still live happily ever after. For real.
And...I lived in an undesireable suburb adjacent to the hood. I had plenty of scholarships, academic enrichment, friends from good families, etc. Find a home you love. Raise your kids in that home. Enjoy the space and neighborhood friends and know that you will blink and you will be planning their high school years.

I agree with 2chatter. A solid school is a good school. Be in a safe neighborhood with decent people in a house you love that's located in an area you're comfortable in.
If that means the gigantic house, hey maybe that's it. I kind of wish we bought a little bit elsewhere, especially b/c we're looking at private school anyway. Then again, the areas where I kind of wanted to live all got decimated by harvey so...
We talked about it last night and we both liked the out of the way house. Adding any more to DH’s committee seems cruel, but we both like it.
It’s also cruel to ourselves to shop before we’ve even listed since that house is not an option. Unless we luck out and whatever offer they take somehow falls through.

What is this magical elixir?
oscillicullum. 2chatter what was the debate? I read up a little online and the reviews, but my 2nd hand hypochondria for my kids set in and this was a knee jerk reaction.
k3am I cannot imagine those prices. For 500k here you can get a 4000 Sq ft mcmansion on 5-10 acres.

Keep looking, you'll find something. Around March/April, the inventory does uptick.
rere - just tons of people saying it does essentially nothing and other people saying it saved their precious babies from death. Both sides cite “studies”, some of which make me LOL.
