Can I wait and PT L in March? I know she's ready (She's BEEN ready....even pooping at daycare). But we are wanting to do a weekend to kick it off....and we have something literally every weekend until March. She'll be 27 months then.
Originally wanted to do it this weekend. But my IL's are coming and that's a negative.
Definitely wait until you have the time. In the meantime, just take her to the potty as much as possible. We did that with E leading up to PTing and I think it helped. We took him when he got up, before we went anywhere, before bed, pretty much any time we thought he might need to go. We talked up the underwear a lot too and had him pick some out and kept telling him he'd be done with diapers as the weekend we picked got closer. I don't think waiting a few weeks will hurt anything, especially if you're putting her on the potty at least occasionally!
Busy but productive morning! I have called the pediatrician office no less than 4 times trying to get an appointment that will work with all of our schedules. Finally nailed down a 12:45 so we will go do that and then come home for naps. My dad will be here so they can nap longer while I go to my appointment.
Picked C’s snack, did breakfast for everyone, dishes, vacuumed the house, cleaned the kitchen and downstairs bathroom, dinner is in the crockpot, and lunch is ready for preschool pickup (they eat on the way home in the stroller). I even managed to catch up with a friend too!
It’s going to be a busy afternoon. DH also has his review at 4p off site. I just hope it goes well and he’s home at a reasonable time.
Also, C has been horrible to DH. Everything is NO, won’t let DH help with anything, no hugs and kisses. Some of it is DH not picking his battles but really C isn’t being nice either and it’s wearing on everyone. My cousins son also went through this around this age (where he didn’t treat males nicely, C also doesn’t treat my dad all that great but it’s better than DH)...I think it stems from DH being gone so much and C not being able to express himself. My cousins son went through this phase for years, it’s just now getting better at 5-6 years old. I hope we can figure it out soon. He used to want to spend so much time with DH and now everything is so anger fueled and difficult.
I just got A's bill for the hospital doctors. The note on one of them includes "resuscitation." Seeing that on there is freaking me out. I know she wasn't breathing well and they put the mask on her but H just informed me they were pushing on her chest too. I didn't see them doing that as it was all happening so fast. I'm just so thankful she was ok. I'm kinda glad I didn't know the severity of it at the time! Ugh. I hope in the very small chance we have another that nothing like that ever happens again!
estrellita That would freak me out too. I agree, probably better not knowing at the time.
Possible triggers:
C had the cord wrapped around her neck and came out looking purple-ish. It all happened so fast. I noticed she was off on color but the doctor told me about the cord after she was all good and on my chest.
There is a small chance we will go for number three. I wasn't scared of the birthing process the first couple times but I'm kinda scared of it now. 3 or so hours after I had C I got up to pee and passed out on the toilet. I remember coming to then passing out again. DH found me and got the nurses in. I guess I lost quite a bit of blood and things were more serious then I realized. We were just talking about it a couple weeks ago.
bk1 scary! H said A's cord was wrapped around her neck too but she didn't seem that blue. She had a slight grey tint though. And she made like a squeak before they rushed her off so I'm not sure exactly what happened. I know she inhaled some fluid because she was coughing stuff up and they were listening to her lungs a lot. Everything was such a blur with that stupid magnesium!
bk1 that's scary! Would talking to a counselor or getting a doula to advocate for you be helpful to you?
MrsMB you may find you don't really need a dedicated weekend. J just started going at daycare because his buddies were, then asking to go more at home...and then one day he was just going entirely on the potty and we switched to underwear, and that was that. We never had naked time or any kind of three-day potty training extravaganza. It was kind of nice!
H is staying home with the baby while I go to a family party tomorrow and I can't wait!! Adult socialization! A glass of wine! Bliss!
Gals, I want y'all to know that as scary as it looks, most babies are born slightly blue-ish, as their oxygenation while in utero is only about 60%. And often, it takes a few minutes for them to "pink up" and that is normal. I'm happy as long as a baby is mostly pink by 3-4 minutes of life.
And tight nuchal cords (cord around the neck), or a very rapid descent, can cause some facial bruising which is also scary looking but as long as the baby's mouth and chest are pink, I'm generally happy.
I just want to set your minds at ease.
bk1, passing out on the toilet is definitely scary. I wonder what your hgb level was, and your blood pressure.
That's good to know, Pooh. I think my after my experience with C I would want to go med-free next time or get to the hospital earlier so I can get an epidural. I had an epidural with G and everything went fine. With C I didn't get to the hospital until I was at an 8. She was born just over an hour after I got there. I was at a 10 ready to go when the anesthesiologist was at the door ready to come in. The nurse told me I was too late for an epidural, which I knew, and said he could come in and give me a spinal. I was told the spinal I got could have been why I passed out. I don't really know - that part just stayed with me.
pooh8402 I know the grey is normal but she had much less pink than E ever did. I'm not sure what her apgar scores were but I'm pretty sure they were terrible. I forget what all goes into it but her skin color and her tone were bad. Luckily she must not have stopped breathing for long because she wasn't blue from what I could tell. And she must have recovered fairly quickly because she looks more pink in the pictures H took, though they were after a bit. I think the cord around her neck was from being stubborn and constantly moving away from the monitors during labor, lol.
bk1 I'm no doctor but I feel surprised that they'd do a spinal that late. Maybe that's normal but I guess I felt like your only real option at that point was IV meds. Which I hate with a passion. Had that with E and again when I was in the ER for my appendix. I got the kinda fun drunk feeling, then the oh crap I drank too much and now I'm going to puke feeling, lol. They just made me feel horrible and with A I had already gotten sick twice (before going in for my pain and again later that night as I was trying to eat) so I didn't want to feel even worse!
estrellita It was super late. Like I felt the need to push as he was trying to do it. The doctor had me wait just a couple minutes for it to kick in then I started pushing. She was out in 2 contractions.
bk1, I'm also surprised they did a spinal that late. We're like, too bad... if you're needing to push by the anesthesiologist gets there. And we don't like to do IV pain meds at like greater than 7cm because they do affect the baby's breathing at birth. Tbh, I'm not a fan of IV pain meds in general during labor. I don't find that they help with the pain much they make the moms groggy, and they affect the baby's heart rate in a way that I don't like.
I'd love to see nitrous oxide being used more in the US. I know it's used frequently in Europe.
We have a hair tourniquet situation. After lots of screaming, I got A hair off his toe. But it looks like there might have been more than one. I called the ped's after hours number...but haven't heard.

Anyone dealt with this?
Oh no! I heard of this happening but never saw it with E, then just about a week ago A had one on her finger! It hadn't been there long so I was just able to pull it off. Do you have any of those little scissors that come in the baby safety kits? I wonder if you could avoid possibly cutting him with those. I was reading a FB post recently and someone said they brought their kid into the ER to get it removed. Hopefully you can get it!

DH already cut him we think we got the big piece off.....but it looks like there are more than one.

We ended up having to take him to urgent care. Doc was super impressed that I got it after she saw how chubby his toes were and how deep it was. She thought there was another hair too, but after a lot of looking with tools and such, they didn't see it.
