We unintentionally were at Target this morning and got a few things. DH got a pair of short rain boots, DS got a visor he fell in love with (yes, an adult visor fits my child’s massive head), and I got like a pop-up tote bag. I wanted a duffel but there was a lady there with the last one in her cart. I liked the rubber tote bags a lot but have zero use for another tote bag.
In our Target all of the stuff was in one spot near the accessories section. The website online listed participating stores.
By the time we got to our Target they were out of all the toddler boots. :-( The employees said a long line formed outside the store before 7am opening time.
Good for them for refusing to allow their name to be associated with a shit product. I wonder how the other items in the collection will hold up?
Interesting. How hard is it for Hunter to produce not crappy boots? They do it all the time. Sucks for Target because those boots would have sold out QUICKLY, but good for them for refusing to sell crap.
I still haven't received the rain coats and socks I ordered. We'll see if I keep or return.

What is hard for Hunter is to produce the tall rain boots at probably no more than $15 cost, so they can sell to Target for $30 and Target can mark up to $50 for retail sale. They probably pay their factory $40 for the ones that Nordstrom is selling for $150. The $25 difference is buying them huge upgrades in materials, fabrication and overall quality.
As a buyer, I was surprised they took the retail from the normal $150 all the way down to $50. I think they should have tried a final retail around $75 to get better quality.
The factory would have sent samples before production started, but those are often made by hand or in small batches, so they can sometimes look better than final production. The fact that none of them were worth bringing to stores would still be shocking if the early samples had been OK.

I think it's even worse than this, though I may be remembering incorrectly, but the women's tall boots were only $40, I think.

That makes sense. I guess I always just assumed Hunter produced their real boots for super cheap. I did read earlier today that apparently all real Hunter boots are partially hand made and the Target ones were machine made. Sucks they all just ended up being recycled. I'm sure that happens more often than I'd think though.
Now I want to know what they looked like. They could have removed the Hunter name and I bet people still would have bought them up.
Someone posted a picture - they were noticeably (2) different heights. I can't find the picture now.
I ordered J a pair of low rain boots in a size 10. They are supposed to arrive on Wednesday. They were $20, so not too upsetting if they are a bust.
That's my thought. I bought my DD 3 pairs and H one pair. He's used to buying rain boots at Costco or Fred Meyer (Kroger) so even if they're not as good quality as Hunter non collab, I feel like they're a decent price for decent boots. DD's boots, too. I wouldn't spend $50 on boots she'll grow out of, but I feel fin with $20 for cute boots that will last her a season. Target has in line cute kids rain boots for around the same price as I bought hers for, so at the end of the day, I still feel good about what I bought. I also bought an adorable backpack for myself. It may not hold up long term, but whatever, I'm totally excited to wear it next fall

I bought a yellow zip up coverup for myself and some sandals for DH. The coverup is really cute. I was also debating getting a beach bag as it’s large, waterproof, and feels like it will hold some heavy items. I thought the products in general looked nice in the store, except the T-shirt’s. They looked thin.
Did anyone see that they are selling umbro shorts for kids?? I was pretty nostalgic over those.

My raincoats (one for DS and one for me) have arrived. They're decent quality. I also got socks and they seem decent too. I think I'll keep it all. My north face raincoat is kinda small so it's time for a new one anyway.
