twinmomma - the pharmacist can write you a label - our school objected to me bringing a labelled bottle with three pills when the original RX amount was 9. It was a rescue med and we needed some at home so I had two bottles with duplicate labels. I had to go back to the pharmacy and get them to print exact labels. They totally can - it’s just a PITA. The school here will only take custody of exact amounts per label for liability reasons. They literally track each pill.
2chatter, Ugh! Wish I had known that! I'll ask when I get this round.
Yes! I wish our school would be way more specific. It affects dozens of families and is apparently not a local issue. Communication overall is such a weak point for people.
I don’t know how I will survive the next five years not being on the PTA board - it’s the only way I know when things are as flyers typically omit key info - either when or who.

Why is everything so hard?
This is exactly why I started going to the PTO meetings. Getting info about fundraiser, school events, etc. 2 days or the day it happens doesn't work for me. I have no clue how parents with multiple kids deal with this total lack of communication from the schools.

This is why I'm on the PTA board now. Because I can't handle stupid people doing things in inefficient ways. I've already made a few very basic suggestions that have resulted in "No way! Why haven't we always done that?!" reactions. I'll be the sacrificial lamb for working parents everywhere!
twinmomma, no way will I be leader. I will give my 2 cents and help when I can but no I don't want to lead. If you have a college with sports in your town or near you check to see if they will help with events. We found out that the athletes at the university need so many community hours. You just have to request how many athletes you need 6-8 weeks in advance. We asked for 2 people for bingo as we planned that event in advance and ended up having 6 starting football players show up to help with Bingo. You can't choose who you want but it was pretty cool. The plan is to ask for jog-a-thon now and schedule it before university starts in September. We know we won't get football but whoever we do will be great motivators for the kids.
I’m a no for PTO, but we have the same issue. Fliers with the date but no time. Or the date and time and no location. Drives me crazy, but I mostly ignore their events and focus on volunteering in the classroom instead- parties, field day, field trips, reading etc.

The pto at the school the kids will attend k-8 is very busy Lots of fundraising that I'm not exactly looking forward too. SIL was president and MIL is still heavily involved. I have a feeling I'm going to get roped into a lot of stuff so im going to enjoy ds's last year of pre-k next year before the madness begins.
That is exactly why I got involved with the PTO. Until I brought it up at a meeting, I guess it never occurred to anyone that a couple of days notice for a parent's luncheon at 11:00 on a Wednesday was not sufficient for most of us that work. We have a lot of nurses and hospital staff who get their schedules by the month, but if they know they need to be somewhere, can block off that time. It shouldn't be hard to pick a day and send home a note with some notice. Also, just lack of organization. When we started school, the PTO was basically the president who took on everything and then wanted to ask for help the day before.
rere, Yup, same here. The crazy part is, they release the schedule of every event for the entire school year in September. We get a master list on the first day of school! And then they don't send any reminders home until the day before.... That's just dumb. It's not like the info isn't available until the last minute. erinshelley21, Thankfully we don't have a ton of fundraisers. We actually just nixed all the selling junk ones and just have one big event now. Then our fun events do little stuff like a 50/50 raffle to help supplement.
