I was that obnoxious person who advocated for extended BF, and then H laughed at me when I was just DONE and cut DS off. People would get so awkward when they found out he was still nursing. ‘Well, as long as he can’t walk up and ask for it, I guess it’s not so weird.’ And then I’d make a joke about how his speech delay was buying him time to nurse longer.
I totally advocate for it too. I do have friends who extended BF but DH doesn’t really hang out with them so it’s just not what he’s used to. DS2 totally asks and I just tell him no when it’s not our “normal” nursing time. We have his 2 yo appointment next month and I am curious what his pediatrician will say. We changed routine the last two nights (he still nurses but I combined bedtime routine for both boys to try to consolidate time)...last night was great but tonight he wasn’t happy with me because he still wanted to nurse even though he had had quite a bit of time. We are going back to normal routine tomorrow because this strategy didn’t work at all and it was much less enjoyable for all.
Mushe- how is everyone doing now that B is home? I hope all is going as well as can be expected. Thinking of you guys!
I keep joking with H, who knew a newborn would be so much work?
She’s actually sleeping pretty well; our big issue is trying to transition to BF from bottles. Keeping up with pumping while I’m taking care of her is a lot. H is going to do one of the overnight feedings so I can sleep; I’ll do the one that coincides when I’d pump. Of course, he slept in today because he was soooo tired from that. 😆
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.

Newborns ARE a ton of work! I pumped a lot with C to establish supply (I would BF then pump, it was an insane amount of work) in the beginning.
I hope the transition goes smoothly and that you all get some rest. My DH made the mistakes of voicing how tired he was and he never did any of the overnights because I was EBF and “he had to work” (don’t get me started, he is lucky to be alive after that nonsense 🤣). Glad your DH is helping you- you need your rest so you can provide milk for B and be the best mama you can to both kiddos! It’s exhausting in the beginning but it will get better as B gets older and has longer breaks between nursing.

E was a pretty good sleeper too, she didn't have her days and nights mixed up and we kept her on the NICU schedule. We fudged it a bit overnight, dropping a feeding after about a month, so she ate at 10pm, 3am, 6am, then 9,12, 3, and 6.
You got this Mama! So glad you have her home to snuggle with whenever you want. It was so hard bringing E home but it was so much better than the hospital - just being on my own comfortable couch was wonderful!
