My son will be 3 a few days after Christmas. Current favorite toys: - outside: micro mini scooter, all the sporting equipment (balls, basketball hoop, baseball tee + bases, soccer goal, golf clubs, hockey net/sticks), playhouse (Backyard Discovery brand from Costco), wagon, shovels/broom for “helping”. Does not like his balance bike or tricycle very much. - playroom: Picasso tiles (not a fan of Magformers), duplos, all the figurines (little people, Sports Guys brand, Terra animals, Daniel tiger set), trucks (particularly his Hess trucks that I get one of each year), play kitchen, trains, jigsaw puzzles. He does not use his wooden blocks, babies (we have a PBK and Wonder Boys one), cash register, spin again, or globe very often. - gross motor play: little tykes bounce house, roller coaster, ikea balance beam. Doesn’t use the trampoline or Rody very much. - books: he reads 1.5-2 hours a day. It’s crazy! He loves Mercy Watson series, Disney storybooks, little golden books, Dr Seuss, and anything sports the most. Definitely gravitates towards longer stories/chapter books but will still read some short books. - games: stack it up, connect four, candy land, chutes and ladders, go fish
His list for Christmas/Birthday - children’s museum membership - Little Gym or Music Playhouse classes - duplos - graduated cylinder set (he loves doing science experiments) - playmobil bus - maybe a marble run, worried about him with marbles still though - brickyard builders - Melissa & Doug fishing pole set - lakeshore learning alphabet zoo - Brio doll house

Ds is 6 and I just bought him this m&d mystery set to save for his December bday. He got one last year at Christmas and LOvED it. He got another decoder book and something else and sat and did the whole book at once. My kids have already put in their wish lists since they didn’t get everything they wanted for their birthdays. My 7th grader wants a bedroom makeover and a dog. My 5th grader wants a phone. This is basically a what not to get list. It will be the Christmas of NO. Although I may be able to work with bedroom decor

My 6yo (will be 7 at Christmas) wants all the legos and beyblades. My 2yo will be getting the green toys wagon and I have no idea what else. He’s so hard since he already plays with all of big brothers toys and really Only wants what the big one has that exact moment.
boiler717, wait, is your <3year old reading already? Or do you mean you read with him for 1-2 hours a day? Just curious...
DD saw this at a toy store and played with it for like 20 mins. It is so cute, I really want to get it for her for Cmas but I’m not sure we have the space and I’m worried she will grow out if it fast. But there is always DD2 coming... she doesn’t use her kitchen that much so I can’t decide.

My goodness I thought the same! That is awesome either way. I do not doubt that he is though, my 1st was like that. My 2nd son, however, is seriously so far from that level of maturity. He barely sits through a short board book. boiler717,

My goal is to only buy small toys/experiences since we are living in a small place right now. I was successful at their bdays.
My 7 year old is suddenly obsessed with Pokémon. He’s not really into Harry Potter but we went to Universal for my brother and my mom bought him a wand. I may get him the books since he had a lot of fun there but didn’t really know the story. I’m definitely getting him the LEGO advent calendar this year. He loves LEGOs but DH thinks he has too many (he really doesn’t but he can’t always play with them with a 2 year old brother around). Legos will be on his list and it’s what my family often gets. DH has been wanting to get him the Nintendo retro mini system for the past year but they had discontinued it so it was ridiculously expensive and they brought it back this summer. He likes Mario and superheroes a lot. He’s suddenly too cool for a lot of Disney characters 😢
My 2 year old is obsessed with trains and loves anything vehicle related. For his bday I bought a lot (like a random box full) of Thomas trains on eBay and he wouldn’t even unwrap the rest of his presents after opening that one, so I’ll probably do that again. I want to get some puzzles, latch boards, etc. in the wooden toys thread. He also likes Daniel Tiger, Mickey and Elmo.

Oh no he’s not reading on his own! He just wants to be read to all.day.long. It’s hard to find books that are toddler appropriate story that are longer. He can recite many books from memory cover to cover but he’s definitely not reading them.
Any suggestions for a ride on toy for a 1 year old? Bonus points if it can go in the grass.
we have a y bike but it is just for flat surfaces. Do you have a cozy coupe already? Most 1 year olds wouldn't be able to propel something on grass I wouldn't think.

Not yet, but I have my eye on a cozy truck!
He doesnt need to use it on grass yet, just be able to. We live in the country so concrete is limited. Gravel driveway, no sidewalks, etc.
Yes someone please tell me what 8 year olds are into this year. She’s going to be SO hard to shop for this year. To add to the fun she has a November birthday so I need multiple ideas.
So far I know she wants all the Dogman books. I must admit they are pretty funny!
Basically all my 6 year old's friends are getting one of these since DD1 loves hers so much and tells all her friends about it. We got her one after seeing how much the older kids at tennis all loved theirs.

Do you think a 4.5-5 year old would get something out of these? DH gets a big discount on them through his job, so I’m tempted to get DD one for Christmas but I’m not sure if we should wait til she’s a little older.

My 4 year old wants one. It can be used simply as a watch and add functionality as you go. My daughter loves the timers, which might be too hard for a younger and the chore tracker, which I think you could use younger.
DD1 is turning 5 soon and we have no idea what to get her. She loves board games so we can always just add to our current collection. For anyone who needs suggestions, she loves playing Chutes and Ladders, Zingo, and Pop the Pig (or something like that). We will probably get her new Lego sets too.
The 14mo loves anything that makes noise and happens to love the toys that DD1 wasn’t super into at that age, so it’s nice that they’re getting some use! DD1 didn’t love her IKEA play kitchen (2nd birthday present from us) but DD2 is already loving it, mostly because she likes banging the pots and pans but that’s fine. I am struggling to think of ideas of things we don’t already have for her since I don’t want her to just always get hand-me-downs.
DD likes Mermaid Island and Hoot Owl Hoot if you don't have those board games.
Does anybody have the. Hape quadrille marble run? Is it worth it? I’d love for this to be the boys big gift if it will actually get played with.
I realize you asked about this nearly a week ago...
I was obsessed with marbles as a kid and already cannot wait for my son to be old enough to start doing marble runs. We have a few years though, but I am pumped haha.
hamster, our cozy coup goes outside only and works fine on the grass. S can roll it around just fine. We also have a sit n scoot tricycle thing that he is OBSESSED with. We keep that indoors but it would be fine outdoors, too. Lastly, we have some bigger vintage tonka trucks that while he cannot ride, he can push all over the grass and loves to do that.
We also have a radio flyer type thing that he likes to climb in and out of and have us push him around in.

shauni27 , actually I found a set on a b/s/t group right after posting. In my 4 years in those groups, I’ve never seen a quadrilla set so I snatched it up. It’s in pristine condition! But I have decided to wait another year or two to give it to them though. I think my boys are still a smidge on the young side and it will be more fun if they are a little older. Can’t wait! I love toys that are fun for me too, lol!
Mini-trampoline owners, is this the type of toy that my downstairs neighbor will murder me for buying?
Probably. The legs on mine shift around some when the kids jump on it hard, which would probably create a lot of noise downstairs if it weren't on the first floor.
And I definitely wanted to murder my former upstairs neighbors who let their kids jump on a pogo stick.

Thanks, I figured as much. And OMG to a pogo stick, lol.

If it helps, apparently my 3yo is reading some Magic tree house/ jack and annie chapter books in his preschool.
