I'm still reading Ham Bones. I started a Kindle Freebie last night when I woke up at 3 and couldn't get back to sleep. It's terrible in plot, and editing, but at 3 in the morning it's perfect for trying to lull yourself back to sleep.
QOTW: I use reusable shopping bags, because our groceries have banned plastic bags. I used them before that though, because they were easier to carry on my walks home from the grocery. I'm lucky that I live in such a walkable area, as I don't drive. I also have a KeepCup for when I go to the cafe for takeaway. I follow the council's waste plan with the green bin for compostables, yellow bin for recyclables and red bin for landfill, but if I had to do any more work for it, I would not. I dry everything but towels on the line because I hate crunchy towels. I use grey-water safe household cleaners. I have never used anything with micro-plastic scrubby beads. I use reusable cloth pads when I need them. Beyond that I am not too much into Saving the Earth - I buy paper books. I can't tell you how much I hate the coming ban on plastic straws and plastic-sticked Q-Tips. I send letters and cards out at least 5 times a month, I still use paper for as many things as I possibly can and I am not that interested in changing my ways. I've just come to terms that other will consider me a bad person in this regard and I'm comfortable with that.
I'm rereading Magic Strikes and I'm still loving it as much as the first and second time around.
I'm listening to All Your Perfects and it's already painful. Painful as in emotional, not bad. I'm anxious about finishing it.
QOTW: We do a pretty good job at home with recycling and composting. I'm fully switched out to silicone straws for any refills I get when I'm out, but I want to get one of those pocket ones for on the road. I recently bought the Bambooee reusable towels and I've significantly reduced my paper towel waste. I'd really like to convince DH to do better at the store using reusable bags. I have some that I keep in my purse, but he's the one that goes shopping the most. I'm always up for more ideas on how to reduce my footprint. I'm making progress, but I want to keep getting better.
I’ve never heard of those towels! Thanks!
So far, I love them. I just throw them in the wash. I don't recommend the dishwasher like some people do, mine never dried.
I finished The Obelisk Gate 5* by NK Jemisin - it took me awhile to get into it, but that was mostly me and a busy schedule. I am not anxiously awaiting my hold on book #3.
Two holds came in: The Red Garden, Alice Hoffman - which I have started The Girl Who Drank the Moon, Kelly Barnhill - I will start it next.
QOTW: We recycle a ton of stuff, use reusable grocery bags, rarely use plastic water bottles, have a composter, I walk to work everyday (and we specifically bought our house because I could), trying to use fewer straws. We do not have kids, which ranks high on many lists. We do still travel, I use heating and cooling to keep myself comfortable, we eat meat, have two cars...we try, but there is always more we could do.
I finished All We Ever Wanted (despite my post earlier). It was still terrible and didn’t get better, but I was at the beach and didn’t mind being interrupted 20x by my kid for some reason. Emily Giffin really needs a heart to heart with her editor. She just keeps getting worse.
I started All Your Perfects, but had to stop. I hope the books has the husband’s POV, bc while I feel for the wife, it’s extremely one sided. I also wasn’t a fan of It Ends With Us, so I may just never join the Colleen Hoover fan club.
QOTW: we recycle and use reusable grocery bags. It’s hard in our area as even the recyclables list is short
ssmjlm I just read my first Colleen Hoover book and was extremely underwhelmed. I read November 9, and it read like a YA novel and this supposedly enlightened and empowering main character was...not at all either of those things, IMO.

Agreed. I'm on hold for this one but not psyched for it based on how little I liked the last couple of her books.
I've made absolutely zero progress on the graphic novel The Sandman, Vol. 2: The Doll's House, and I'm just shy of halfway through A Gentleman in Moscow.
QOTW: The number one thing I'm doing for the planet is not having kids, although my motivation for not having kids has nothing to do with saving the environment and everything to do with just not wanting kids. But I'm sure that is largely negated by all of my traveling. We recycle, and I recently bought cloth napkins to reduce my paper towel usage, but we don't compost, and this is definitely an area were we could improve.
