thoseareradishes, I followed A's lead when giving up naps. I waited as long as possible, but knew it was time when the morning nap was a constant fight to get her to sleep and kept getting pushed back later and later.

loira, she gets up at 7:30 (but is awake before that, not sure for how long), then naps at 10:30 and sometime after 3. Bed has been pushed back to 7:30. I know that eventually that morning nap is going to get pushed later then we'll have to drop the second nap. She rarely fights a nap, if she does, it's the second one. Kid likes to sleep! I guess I'll just continue to go with what works for now. I just hate capping naps but if I don't her wake time is either too long or too short and it messes up night sleep/bedtime.
Yeah that comment makes zero sense Mushe. I'm glad you have a good LC to work with though! I"m sorry about the hearing test. E had to be asleep for her hearing test and I was so nervous about it, I didn't know if she would actually sleep. Will B have to be sedated or just asleep?
I’m not sure. 😬 The lady today does the hospital testing, and didn’t know what this clinic will do. I did some Googling, and it looks like it would be rare to have unilateral issues, so that’s good.

That was like A. Eventually the morning nap moved further back, and the afternoon nap became a huge fight, so it was natural to try and amalgamate them.
My meds were ordered yesterday! Insurance called me to confirm the total and it will be $55. This is such a difference to the $4k I spent 2 years ago. I am so grateful! Funny enough, the only meds I had to pay a copay for are the ones that were actually covered for me 2 years ago. I have no idea how these things are decided, but none of the injections even had a copay.
Mushe, we had to go back a few times for S's hearing test for one ear. He had to be asleep but not sedated. Fingers crossed!!
S seems so far from being able to transition from 2 naps to 1. He sleeps between 11-12 hours a night and still seriously needs his morning nap just about 2 hours after waking up. He is a miserable crank and just so fussy and whiny. He will sleep anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours (at home. At daycare he hardly naps and then gets home and again is an asshole, lol). Then he will take another 45 minute-1.5 hour nap around 1:30. I am going to follow loira's advice and just follow his lead.

shauni27, E has just started being able to stay up longer in the morning (she's 14.5 months adjusted, 18 actual). From what I've read it's pretty normal to still have 2 naps as late as 18 months, so I'm not going to rush it, but I do think she'll be doing it sooner rather than later. It's just a matter of deciding when I should go for it and let her sleep as long as she wants for her morning nap.
I'm kinda looking forward to it because we'll be able to do stuff in the morning (everything is at 10am, grrr) but I'm not really looking forward to such long wake times! Plus, she'll be moving up to the next age class in gym soon and that's later in the morning.
thoseareradishes, it is a double edged sword for real! Like, having longer wake times makes it easier to plan things throughout the day. BUT I take full advantage of the two naps and nap myself during his morning nap and then get all my shit done during nap #2. I still want to do both haha.

FX it's just some fluid or something in her ear. E just had to be asleep, and the audiologist taped some probes to her head and put probes in her ear then did stuff on her computer. It was done really quickly, like 5-10 minutes I think. She had to be asleep so she wouldn't move.

Yes, I love my two breaks! I get dinner mostly prepped and do all my chores and shower. I need a second break because she wears me out!

exactly! I get meals prepped, house organized, maybe a workout or a shower or both! Plus a nap, lol.

Ha, you guys are so productive. When H took two naps, I would spend the first one drinking coffee (and cleaning up after breakfast) and the second one drinking cocktails (and prepping dinner). It looks like we switched around 16 months. It is definitely better for being able to do activities. And it's fairly common that she sleeps for the same length of time - instead of two 1.5-hour naps, she takes one 3-hour nap. But it's still too late for coffee and a bit on the early side for cocktails.

shauni27, where are the lymph nodes? Was he sick recently? I ask because DS has two swollen lymph nodes in his groin and was diagnosed with reactive lymph nodes after a febrile illness. He had a blood panel and everything came back normal, but consistent with a recent virus, but they take 4-6 weeks to go away.

A 3 hour nap? And she isn't bouncing off the walls at bedtime? Come and have her teach A this trick!
I'm glad to hear this. J takes 2 1.5 hour naps and I worry when he goes down to 1 it will only be 1.5 to 2 hours. A 3 hour nap would be good. He already has long wake times because he only sleeps 8 to 6 every night.

My kid never napped well as an infant (maybe two 20-30 minute naps a day), but got in the habit of one long nap in the afternoon after switching to the toddler room at 15 months. Now at almost 22 months he naps a solid 3+ hours on weekends. It’s GLORIOUS. I will weep when he drops this nap.

DS was such a bad napped that I bought a sleep book after getting our NIPT results this time. 😆
Like your DS, he started taking a long nap in the toddler room. At one point, he was always the last one awake. He’d be snoozing while everyone played around him. It didn’t last long for us, so I hope you have better luck!

Same. Word for word. 3 years 2 months and afternoon nap is going strong.

They are right on his neck kind of down from his ear. The kid is constantly a little sick because of daycare, and my NP friend also pointed out that teething can cause swollen nodes in the neck as well. I am sure that it is nothing and have talked myself down from going crazy--if they are still there in 2 months at his 15 month visit I will have his pedi check them out, but at this point I am not concerned. Although when I even let an edge of worry get in my head of "what if..." I instantly cannot breath.
scm1011, S had always been a terrible napper for us at home AND at daycare. 20-30 minute naps. At daycare he seriously still does that, but at home he is so good. I hope hope hope he gets good when he transitions to the toddler room, but that is not for another year.
Mushe, pooh8402, I hope Cal takes after E and not N in this regard lol; our weekend nap time is sacred!!
shauni27, that was Cal too before switching to toddlers. I'd come to the infant room for pickup during afternoon naptime and the room would be dark and everyone else sleeping while my kid was playing in the corner by himself lol. Everyday. I was shocked how quickly he adjusted to the one long nap (on mats!) when he moved over to toddlers. Now around noon all we have to do is say "ok, get your sleepy sack, its nap time!" and he grabs it and runs for the stairs. I would have never imagined this a year ago.
How come he doesn't transition for another year? Does your infant room go to age 2?

yup. They are in the infant room until 24 months and then moved to toddler from 2 years until 3 years. Then they go to the preschool room--preschool in Vermont is paid for by a grant so they have half day preschool off site and then daycare goes and picks them up and brings them back to daycare for the second half of the day. That is for 3-5 year olds.

Hm...it's probably not for the best reasons, I suppose. I think she tends to be under-rested after a week of daycare. She usually misses 1-2 naps a week there, and her naps are usually shorter (1.5 hours at most, although they've been 2 hours this week). And then we probably put her to bed too late. We try to start the bedtime routine around 7:15pm so she's asleep by 8:15pm or so, but we tend to procrastinate because she often plays really well by herself after dinner, and it's hard to interrupt that, especially when there are usually tantrums associated with the bedtime routine. But we've had to wake her up for daycare almost every day for the last two weeks, so she really should probably be going to bed earlier.
cactuscookie, ah okay. Yeah, A goes to bed around 7pm. Usually. Unless my H puts her to bed and then she manages to stall for an hour with him. That's a whole other issue. I don't know that she actually falls asleep right away, but she's in her crib and doesn't climb out (yet) so it doesn't matter. Usually she poops...

Random update on someone you guys don't know: My friend who finally got pregnant after about two years of trying is now 12 weeks along and just got her NIPT results back - everything looks good and they're having a girl. We're going to have so many little girls running around!
I'm just really excited and needed someone to tell.

So we tried one nap on Friday because we didn't get home from gym until after 10:30. She slept until about 1:30, but I think she was awake on and off near the end (so about 2.5 hours of nap). She did good the rest of the day but was definitely tired by 6, and we put her to bed at 7 instead of 7:30. She woke up a few times looking for her pacifier and was generally a bit restless (feeling overtired probably). She was more grumpy yesterday than normal. So. If I had to push her to do one nap, she could do it and we'd just have some overtired and fussy days for a while, but I think if we wait a little longer she will be more ready for the long wake times. She got the same amount of sleep on her one nap day as a 2 nap day, but those long wake times I think are too tiring.
