I'm reading a terrible, free, self-published book for my book club called Life, Love, and a Polar Bear Tattoo (Toronto #1)[/i.
I refuse to believe this is an actual book! Did someone in your book club write it?
Nope! This is just an incredibly prolific self published author. She's apparently written 15 (!!) books in this series, but they seem to all involve different people, they all just take place in Toronto. It's painful.

OMG. What is your book club thinking?! You’re in my thoughts lol

Ha! Both of my book clubs are set up so that whoever is hosting picks the book, no voting, so really there is just one person to blame. And normally I feel like she picks better books, I think her last picks were The Night Circus and Artemis (which was also kind of a stinker, but The Martian was so good it was surprising Artemis was sort of bad).
I finally finished Warlight by Michael Ondattje. Loved it. For a while there it was kind of slow, but he's such a sensual, atmospheric writer that he's fun to read even when nothing much is happening. I felt like the very ending wrapped things up in a strange and not completely necessary way, but overall I'd recommend this book just for the experience of reading Ondattje.
This week I'm reading Winners Take All: The Elite Charade of Changing the World by Anand Giridharadas. So thought-provoking; it's a pretty spot-on take on the modern world if you ask me.
My favorite movies are Pee-Wee's Big Adventure and Il Postino.
