2. My cervix is doing stuff! Lol! It was closed/thick last week, and this week it was a little more than 1cm and 70% effaced, and baby is "really low". I am encouraged to hear things are progressing down there, makes all the contractions and vag pressure more bearable to know they are productive. Also glad to know my cervix will be at least somewhat favorable if I end up needing induction.
Aw: we finally got construction started on the wall to close off the baby's room (previously was a large bonus room open to stairwell outside our bedroom) and they are already almost done! So weird to have a wall there now but it will be a perfect sized room and much more functional as a bedroom than an extra living space on the top floor. After they finish trim/ painting we can finally assemble some baby furniture and start putting away and organizing her stuff. We also have our childbirth prep class this saturday, should be fun?
3. Not at the moment!
4. We did a little pic announcement using one of our early ultrasounds in which the baby looked very much like a Squirtle to us. So she's definitely going to have that nickname for a while, and my coworkers even got a pokemon book to use for my guestbook at my work shower 😁
turboteal, we are super close! your cervix sounds better than mine right now though ha. i bet you'll be going first.
I think all my walking and time on my feet at work is helping make a difference, yay for the unit being super busy? However this is still my first pregnancy/baby, and my doc says I'm just on track cervix-wise to deliver around my due date, give or take a week. So...no change in his mind of delivery date estimate, lol.

maybe? i walked a ton with daughter #1 pregnancy and it didn't do squat, just wore me out ha. I think I was 1cm max when I went to get induced after 40 weeks. This time around.. I think this baby is even more cozy.

ha, same with my first. I am a nurse too so I was walking a TON throughout my pregnancy. I was technically on the schedule on my actual due date (but was sent home for low census--I think they didn't want me to go into labor actually on my shift). I walked a ton that day too. I was like 1.5 and 70% when I went in that night for cervical ripening. It was fine though, the ripening worked, I went into labor on my own, no pitocin needed, and had my baby 13 hours after I walked in, 12 hours after my first dose of cytotec.
In FTMs, I've found that a thinner cervix (at least 50%) helps more than the dilation. FTMs tend to thin out first, then dilate. Multiparas (STMs+) dilate and thin out at the same time.
turboteal, I'm pretty sure I was 1 cm dilated the last 3 weeks of my pregnancy. But my cervix was thinning so that was progress. I also dropped at 39 weeks (like you can look at my 39 week picture and my 40 week picture and see a difference).

what about second time moms? i think i was like 40% effaced at this point with kid #1.

they dilate and thin out at the same time. but STMs who have had a vaginal delivery before, especially fairly recently (like within 5 years), their bodies already know what to do. ***On average*** STMs will labor faster than FTMs, but really, I've found that they transition faster and push faster (which for me, holy crap, because last time, I transitioned in less than an hour and pushed 5 times).

1. How far along are you this week? 13w3d
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? AW: NIPT results came today and are great! My coworker/BFF knows gender and is buying a baby item today so we can open it tonight. Very excited!
Vent: my dog got sprayed by a skunk on Saturday. Despite all my cleaning efforts my house still smells sooooo bad. It is not helping with the nausea☹️
3. Questions for the group? Not right now
4. Did you or will you have any sort of public/social media/picture announcement? Share if you're willing! We were already scheduled to have family pics taken at the beginning of November, so we will do some kind of pic then. I think I am going to wear a “we are adding a pumpkin to our patch” shirt to work next week.

1. Six weeks! 2. Just had the first ultrasound where we saw the heart beating. And I promptly started crying. 3. Does anyone know much about TSH numbers? My blood work from 4 weeks came back with TSH at 3.9. My last two doctors always told me they wanted my TSH ideally below 2 and put my on medication when it was 2.8-3.5. I’m with a new doctor now and he said 3.9 is fine. I’m just not sure if I should push the issue or not. We lost out last pregnancy due to a major congenital defect, and now I’m paranoid about everything 😬 4. No. After our loss, I unfollowed anyone on Facebook who posted pictures of their kids. I just couldn’t take it. I’ll keep this pregnancy off social media, but we will be telling family and close friends soon. If things go bad again, we’ll need the support.

1: 31 weeks 6 days
2: I scheduled my c-section last week. This baby will be here December 10th, at 39 weeks 3 days! Now just trying to figure out scheduling both out of state Grandmas, and who does what with the 7 & 9 year old. Also waiting to see if my kids will be able to visit in the hospital.
I ordered my pump this week! If your insurance pays towards a pump, call all of the providers your insurance works with! All but one charged an upgrade fee of $75+ for the Spectra 1, but one medical supply store charges $17.75. Really annoying (as insurance always is) but worth it to save that money.
Vent: My outer hips hurt so bad at night when I'm sleeping on my sides.
3: I'm thinking about getting a video monitor, that I can move to the playroom once this baby is older. I was looking at the Arlo. Does anyone have any recommendations?
4: No, I haven't announced. I may post a picture when the baby is born.

2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? I'm finally feeling pretty good, I worked out a few times this week, I'm eating vegetables again!

4. Did you or will you have any sort of public/social media/picture announcement? Share if you're willing! Nothing yet. We announced on Facebook after the anatomy scan with DD. Maybe we'll do something this time. I've been slow and weird about telling people because I've had a lot of anxiety with this pregnancy, but there are some friends who live far away who don't know yet, and I guess I should announce it somehow. We usually do a pretty involved, fun Christmas card, so maybe we could incorporate it in that way. I need to think about it.
EloiseWeenie, we have the same DXR-8 as cactuscookie and pooh8402. We've been really happy with it, the only thing is that we're about to need to do our 2nd battery replacement on the monitor unit. It's about 3 years old now. We plan to use it again with #2 and would rec/buy again if we needed one.

Yea we've had ours a bit longer and it lasts maybe an hour? or two? off the charger. It's on its 2nd battery. But the batteries are easily found on Amazon and cost less than a new monitor. We're planning to get a second camera for #2
Growth scan yesterday seemed to go well. The tech obviously couldn’t officially tell me that everything was okay, but she did say that baby is measuring 28w1d and weighs 2lb 9oz (give or take 6oz).

i've been cramping a good bit and my cervix has gotten really sensitive lately, like before when it was checked i was comfortable, now it's kind of painful.. i'm guessing that probably doesn't mean much though. 1cm and 50% effaced they said.

Ours is pretty new (our old monitor of a different type broke a few months ago) and it lasts forever off the charger - like ten hours maybe? Good to know that new batteries are readily available for when it ages.
I didn't realize you could just get a separate camera. I don't see anything on the receiver that indicates you can switch between cameras. That would be handy though.

It will have to wait until I get home, but I can show you a picture of the menu where that option is. It also has the option to scan between cameras.
cactuscookie , yeah we actually have two. Calvin got a free one for doing some beta testing for them, and we've used it in scanning mode between two kids when friends visited with their toddler. It works pretty well! We also use one of the cameras for travel and just switch the mode back and forth for which camera we have with us (#1 vs. #2). Very easy.

Sending cervical ripening vibes your way! Haha! Also omg, we are at the top of the due date list now! When did that happen??

Here is the picture. You hit the menu button, then scroll over to the icon that looks like a camera unit. That one allows you to add, delete a camera, switch views, or scan.
