Thank you for asking. C seems quite a bit better (he even slept good last night) and will go to preschool tomorrow (he still has a cough but I expect that to last another few days). L seems better too but still lots of congestion and he was actually wheezing today because he was running around too much. Trying to keep him from going too crazy so he doesn’t make it worse. His sleep has been horrible though...up 3x last night 🙁
katespade- when you go for the test tomorrow ask if they have a room that you can lay in, it helped me when I was pregnant with dd. I felt so nauseated, mainly because I had not eaten but the drink was gross too.
ewall- I’m sorry she isn’t tolerating dairy. That would be so hard for me to give up.
@suvz- try not to let it bother you. I know it’s hard as I feel bad that my work schedule is so hectic and I’m not only working while dd is at daycare but some weekends too. It’s hard.
Blue Moon- I’m sorry G had a reaction, and I’m sorry that the allergists appointments are at crappy times. Nothing like that works for working parents. 😞
luv2rn4fun- I am glad both boys are feeling a little better now.
estrellita- they don’t allow water bottles? Weird. It’s a required item at our daycare. They have the bottles on a side table and the kids are allowed water when ever they want. And I hope you figure out the allergy stuff. that’s frustrating.
DD is 23 months old and we are still giving her milk before bed time. When did you stop doing this? (Probably way before now, lol) She drinks it out of a sippy cup. She drinks maybe 6-7oz at most and some days she doesn’t drink the whole thing. She is starting to show potty training signs and I want to stop the milk before that so she is not peeing all night long.
Growth scan today seemed to go well. The tech obviously couldn’t officially tell me that everything was okay, but she did say that baby is measuring 28w1d and weighs 2lb 9oz (give or take 6oz).
GD test tomorrow morning. Ugh. Thank you all for the hints, tips, tricks, etc! I was able to talk through it with my therapist on Monday, too, and we came up with a plan that will hopefully get me through it without too much anxiety. We’ll see how it goes, I guess.

Good luck tomorrow katespade! Glad today seemed to go well!
awick14- 13.5 months won’t C when I weaned him but L is still nursing 3x/day, morning/before nap/bedtime (turned 2 three weeks ago). Our neighbor’s DD is 4 months older than L and still gets milk before bedtime. Oh, and so does our friends son who is also 4 months older. I know it needs to end at some point but I am dreading the screaming for milk...
awick14 Apparently not. They did, especially over the summer when it was hot outside. They asked us at that point to keep bringing it and we put actual labels on the water bottles. Now the new owners don't allow them. I have no clue why. I can't see how it's a potential health risk or anything. They have dumb, weird rules that make no sense and even the teachers think it's ridiculous.
estrellita, our go-to dinner for G when he was dairy free was peanut butter on...anything! PB on a waffle, PB on a banana, PB on an actual sandwich. We also used a lot of pouches to supplement, just have to check to make sure there isn't yogurt added. H usually grills up a big pack of chicken breasts each weekend that we keep on hand in the fridge. I sometimes just shred a little of that and toss it on the high chair with some cut up fruit. That's still on of his favorite "meals."

This is a good idea, especially because she doesn't get PB that often and the allergist suggested we give it to her often. If it passes through milk then she gets plenty, but we don't feed it to her directly often, lol.
I'm thinking most stuff is probably fine if we check labels and keep cheese off of things until her portion is taken out and things like that. And if course changing a bit of how we cook. More oil and less butter I suppose! But last night I was even looking at cereal bars and realizing I had no idea they had milk in them! How do you even eat out with a milk allergy? I feel like everything has milk, butter, cream, etc!

awick14 R is 26 months and still gets milk before bed. We do it as part of the "winding down for the night" routine that we do downstairs so he gets it about 10-15 min before we go upstairs to get ready for bed. He loves milk, he drinks it 3x a day. But, we are not close to potty training yet.
awick14 G gets milk before bed if she asks for it. She's 3.5. She is potty trained, but she wears a pull up at night. Most of the time if she needs to pee she will get up MOTN and take care of it herself. When she was first starting that she would wake me up to help her. She wakes up dry 95% of the time but I'm keeping her in pull ups until we run out for sure.. maybe longer.
C is 23 months and doesn't drink milk. She does drink water before bed and takes a cup of water to bed with her. She wakes up soaking wet most mornings. While she is interested in the potty she is not ready to train yet and don't plan to even attempt anytime soon.
Anxious! lol. Ready to be done so I can go home and be anxious there, instead. The drink itself wasn’t so bad, though. Basically flat sprite, which is a taste I’m very used to thanks to years of stomach issues.

Glad the drink wasn't too bad! Just remember, chances are you will pass just fine. Most people do! Hopefully your results come back fast so you don't have to worry about it much longer!

I’m annoyed because I showed up with an empty stomach this morning, and they turned me away. My doctor hadn’t told me that I HAD to eat in the morning, so I thought if I went over before breakfast I might have a better chance of passing. But instead, I had to go home, eat something, wait a few more hours, and then go back. LAME.

Oh weird! They never told me whether or not I should eat before mine so the first one I ate Chipotle like a half hour before, lol. Second time I think I had something smaller but I can't remember. I know for the 3 hour you have to fast so I did mine in the morning. Telling a pregnant woman not to eat that long.. not cool. Lol.

Yeah, my instructions were to fast for two hours, so I figured if I just fasted overnight it would be fine. The lab tech disagreed. He said fasting overnight is only meant for the three hour test, and you need to eat a couple of hours before the one hour because the point of it is to get an idea of how your body is reacting to your normal eating habits.

Makes sense. Just like it's a bad idea to go super low carb, especially before the 3 hour test, because then it kind of shocks your system and can have the opposite affect. Just eating normally leading up to it is better!
katespade I can't believe they made you drink the entire thing! They only gave me maybe 4 or 5 ounces out of that bottle. Also, I was fine to do it after overnight fast...why does the test vary so much between providers??? Hope you passed!

Yep! 5 minutes to drink the entire bottle. I’m kind of glad that they gave me such a small timespan, because it gave me less time to think about it before it was already done. lol.
They said they’d have results ready today, but it’s 5:30 and I haven’t heard anything so I’m assuming I’ll just find out at my appointment on Monday.
So.... if my doctor told me their cutoff is 135, and my results came back as 135, is that likely to mean I passed or I failed? The lab range for normal is 140, but I asked my doctor at my last appointment and she said they consider it lower (I can’t remember if she said they use 130 or 135).

You'll have to ask your doctor. He may consider it a pass but he may want you to do the 3 hour just to be sure, considering this is an equivocal result. This is the double edged sword of having patient portals, when pts can see their results before their next appointment. I love having my results online for me to view and interpret, but sometimes I have questions too, that have to wait until next appointment.

I just wish I could remember whether she said they set the cutoff at 130 or 135. I know their office sets it lower than 140, I just can’t remember the details for some reason. It’s annoying because I’m usually so good with numbers. lol. My appointment is on Monday afternoon, though, so I won’t have to wait too long to find out.
I really hope it’s 135 and they let me through with a pass. Ugh.

I think it'll depend on your doctor and your medical history. My doctor's office had a cutoff of 140. I was at 150 with E, 137 with A. Even though I passed with A, I had to take the 3 hour again because of having GD with E. But I think if I had no other factors, I would have passed and been fine.
My guess is that if you're borderline, they might want you to take the 3 hour. Better safe than sorry. But again, depends on what your doctor thinks. Hopefully they won't make you take the 3 hour and if you do, hopefully you pass it!
