I'm starting a thread because I want to show this off. I started this scarf years ago to go with a hat I knit for my friend. Got bored, set it aside. Finally finished the knitting, I'm going to back it with some gray jersey fabric. It comes in at 7 feet long when I blocked it. I'm SO happy with it, even though it is far from perfect. Made up the charts myself, some patterns match the hat, some have meaning to one or both of us.
I've declared this winter is "finish or frog" so hopefully I'll have more finished things that I've been working on forever.

Oh my gosh, I am working on so much. I have a sweater going for my younger son. I need to start my older son's sweater. I have three pairs of socks on the needles too.

I thought it was time to separate the sleeves and body for my sweater but realized I made too many increases because i counted some stitches wrong. I had to frog about 10 rows. It kind of worked out though because I was considering adapting to make the size L sweater but with XL sleeves. I don't see it being finished by the end of the month but hopefully for my personal goal of Xmas so I can wear it to my family's houses.

I finally got my mom nailed down to teach me how to knit socks this summer (I did not know how to knit at all). She has made many for herself and others, but I just finished these and will give them to her for Christmas. She may already have a ton of knitted socks, but I know these will be special for her since I made them. She's been so excited the last 2 1/2 years that I've finally shown an interest in her hobbies (sewing, quilting, crochet, and now knitting).
She learned how to knit when she was 12, and taught my aunt when my aunt was only 4.

Yeah, my mom's a "throw you into the fire" type teacher. We sat on the couch and she had me start a few rows of just knitting and purling, for some practice, and after I had about a 4 x 3" piece, she said "ok, now here's this yarn, and take these five needles..." Socks were my goal, so that's pretty much where we started.
I finished DS2’s quilt, 22ish months later. Apparently I finish things at the end of November, a memory on FB showed me I finished DS1’s 4 years ago (1 year less total time to complete tho). I learned some things on this one. I hadn’t planned to do the sashing, but the way I was planning to do the blocks must have changed between fabric purchase and construction and I started to run out of some of the fabrics. Others I still have plenty of. I also quilted parallel lines only within each square, and the beginning/end points don’t look good on the back especially, too much picking up/putting down. Hopefully they don’t unravel. I also was so ready to be done I took some shortcuts on the binding that I don’t necessarily love, and hopefully it will hold.
