Dear akafred, I would also not board the dog if you are hosting. I would keep the dog away from MIL during her visit, keep the dog out of MIL's room prior and during her visit and do a good deep clean before her arrival but I would not ship the dog off to the boarding kennel. We own a dog and if guest want to stay they have to be okay with the dog otherwise I have a couple hotels that are close to us that they could choose to stay at instead. I'm sorry 186momx
akafred, to second mae0111, I am allergic to dogs. I do not expect the dog to be kicked out when I visit. Maybe if it was anaphylactic shock allergic (but then I wouldn't set foot in the house). I take allergy meds. Wear my glasses and suck it up. Or make other arrangements such as a hotel room. I also ask that the dog is not allowed in the room I am sleeping in. Luckily my family respects that and cleans thoroughly before I come and shut the dog out of the bedroom I am in.
I appreciate you having my back, but I really do need to board the dog. MIL is 80, allergic to the dog, has asthma, and the two times she stayed with us before we started boarding her, she developed pneumonia afterward. So yeah, I wouldn’t do it if it were just allergies and she were 50 or something. And I don’t even mind boarding her. I just mind that it is freaking November and she is still saying she doesn’t know. Make a plan and tell people. Don’t wait for them to tell you.
akafred have you looked into doggie vacay? We have friends who regularly take in other dogs - they LOVE doing it and the dogs and their owners seem to like it too.
librarychica hang in there, girl. They need you in FL! Looks like a recount or two is coming your way at least. And the giving votes back to former felons is super awesome.

Oh god, the recounts. The hanging chad state hangs on.
I think I’ll move abroad. Then I can vote as a Floridian without having to reside in Florida.

Unfortunately the dog is not rock solid potty trained. She is usually good as long as her routine isn’t messed up. Which that would be.
I have a friend who petsits and dog walks. But unfortunately that wouldn’t work for this dog.
It’s ok though; she goes to a very nice kennel with a doggy daycare style facility. She gets to interact with the other dogs and loves going.
