Thanks! I can't even imagine being talented like that! Her daughter sketched a fox for my son and it's better than anything I could do as an adult. I went to one of those paint and sips and embarrassed myself, lol!
3. Questions for the group? Any tips for PREVENTING constipation? I've been eating plenty of fruits and veggies and drinking lots of water. Just bought some flaxseed to put in my morning smoothies. Anything else? (YIKES!).
Colace. Fruit/veggies/water are great, but IME pregnancy requires much bigger guns.
Yep. I'm on surfak (colace's big sister), benefiber, probiotics, and drink prune juice like 3x a week.
Last pregnancy, when I had to take iron for anemia, I was on daily miralax.

1. How far along are you this week? 13w+6d
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? I think the nausea is finally lifting a bit, so that's encouraging. I'm really hoping I'll have enough energy soon to start working out (very very very non-strenuous, easy work outs) soon.
4. Are your holiday decorations up yet? We're not doing any this year. Between no holiday spirit (this Christmas, we should have had a three month old) and the fact that our holiday decorations, along with most of belongings, are somewhere in the depths of a storage unit...it just isn't happening.
1. How far along are you this week? 8w6d as of today
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? I wore maternity jeans to my work party last Friday because my regular jeans are not comfortable (not even with a hair tie) and thought I'd try the side panel ones. BIG mistake. I was pulling those damn things up all night!
4. Are your holiday decorations up yet? Yep! My son and husband put them up while I was at work a couple weeks ago. No lights on the house yet but I told my husband that is up to him
cherryvalance— SO pretty! And extra special a friend created them.
Mrs.flang- how’s it going today? It’s a tough call, but I say don’t go in until you are sure you need to. Being sent home sounds really annoying. And when it’s not your first I feel like it’s normal for some women to be that dilated for several days before. Good luck!!
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? I should buy a few more shirts that fit decently, but I don’t think I will. Whenever I am out in public I wear the same 3-4 things. Oh well, right? I feel like appointments are taking all my time. GBS test and regular apt tomorrow, and today I am taking my 2.5 year old to dentist for the first time. Joy.
3. Questions for the group? Actually can’t think of anything right now.
4. Are your holiday decorations up yet? Some. I put up lights around our porch and a real wreath a few weeks ago. DS loves even our small spread of Christmas lights. It makes me happy to see how happy he is with them. Totally worth it.
I have a few things up inside but am not going crazy. We still need to get a tree; really need to make that happen this week.

1. How far along are you this week? 24+1
2. Pregnancy-related AW/vents/randoms for this week? feeling pretty good, the diabetes is pretty under control with metformin. Had a scare Sunday- tested after breakfast, a breakfast that I have eaten several times since my diagnosis. Got a reading of 215 (super high- I've been high before, depending on what I eat, but never that high). Called my DH immediately, and he had told me to test again, and within 2 minutes of the first test, I was down to 154 (which was still high, but it was early to test). I'm guessing there was something on my finger that caused the test to read high. Scared the crap out of me though, was sure I was headed to the ER. Other than that, I'm loving feeling the baby move, I wish DH could feel it. Sometimes I get a big one, and then DH puts his hand on my belly, and the meatball just stops moving.
3. Questions for the group? Is anyone else extremely overwhelmed with registering? I started my registry, and put some easy stuff on there, like baby wash (Baby Magic, because I love the smell) and baby laundry detergent, and the bedding we like. I even added the jumparoo and exersaucer. But I can't for the life of me figure out what gas drops or baby medicine I should register for. Or a travel system....I don't want it to be too expensive, but reading the reviews of the less expensive ones show that people are unhappy with those.
4. Are your holiday decorations up yet? Yes! I had my tree up and decorated before Thanksgiving, and everything else has been done for about 2 weeks. I love Christmas and the way my house looks with all the decorations. Since we tripled the size of the house, I feel I need more decorations, but DH won't let me buy anything right now. Guess I'll shop after Christmas sales!
Spent four hours in L&D last night because baby decided she wanted to take an extra long nap yesterday, and didn't want to wake up for my at-home kick count once I realized how infrequently she was moving around. She passed the NST and ultrasound with flying colors, but it was a looooong night.
Now, I'm suddenly feeling an urgent need to pack my hospital bag, which I've been putting off for no particular reason. I would have been totally unprepared if they had decided to keep me overnight or that it was time for baby to make her appearance.

katespade, I'm so glad everything is okay! What a hassle though.
thom, what did you end up doing to manage your heartburn? My midwife recommended Zantac, and it's making my life so much more pleasant! Also you reminded me that I probably have to do the GBS test at my appointment today. Ugh.
pinkalicious, I swear, for both of my pregnancies, the babies always stop moving as soon as my husband puts his hand on my belly! I don't know if they notice the light changing or what, but it seems like it happens way too often to be a coincidence.
katespade, I'm glad everything is okay. And yea, lots of my patients say the baby hasn't been moving, then show up to L&D, get put on the monitor then oh! Baby's moving! It's Murphy's Law.
I always recommend cold and/or sweet drinks, laying on the side, and if needed, push on your stomach to make baby move.

Yeah, we have a routine that usually works when she gets quiet: A couple of oreos, a glass of ice water, laying on my side, and giving her some nudges usually wakes her right up. She decided to be stubborn yesterday, though, and keep napping through all of our normal wake up cues. It was the first time that combo of stimulants hasn't worked, which was scary.
I slipped and fell in the hotel shower this morning, while trying to shave my legs. I landed on my hands and one knee and the other leg did kind of a split (owwwww). Did not land on my belly at all.
Baby was moving right after, I did kick counts, no bleeding (really worried in general about shear forces with an anterior placenta). I had 2 contractions about 20 minutes apart.
Of course, I'm 6.5 hours away from my hospital and doctor, and have a final exam in about 2 hours. Good thing is, my old OB is here and I used to work here, so if I do need to go in, I have a doctor that I trust (and a couple others as backup). Bad thing is, the NICUs here are level 3, and don't take babies under 28 weeks, so baby would be shipped out to Houston or Austin. I'm 26w6d today.
I'm planning to just monitor for now because final exam, but haven't decided if I'll call and let my nurse know.
ETA: I called work and asked my charge nurse, lol. She said I'm probably fine and the contractions were likely related to the stress of the fall and the exam. She said hydrate hydrate and if any bleeding or contractions don't stop, go in. She said not worry my OB at the moment because I know what to watch for.
Scary, pooh8402! I had a very similar incident when I was about 35 weeks. I slipped in my work lobby and landed hard on all fours. I also had what I realized later were a couple of contractions, but nothing further came of it. I hope the rest of the day is uneventful, pregnancy wise, and good luck on the exam!
FishChicks, I think your next appointment was today? I am hoping your cervix is not getting any shorter and that you feel better. Sending you good vibes and thoughts!
Thank you!! It was a really good appointment! No change to my cervix and perinatology actually released me as a patient! Baby boy will still need monthly growth scans due to marginal cord insertion, but those don't start until the 26th. And as of today, I am the most pregnant I've ever been! I am so, so grateful for all the good news!
3. Questions for the group? Can anyone offer up basics I absolutely need for a newborn? I feel overwhelmed by all the things to buy and I don't want to buy things I am not going to use. Any STMs have any favorite products or things they didn't end up using?
Tbh, all a newborn needs is a way to eat (boob and/or bottle), diapers and wipes, some stuff to wear, a safe place to sleep, and a safe car seat. That's it. The rest is more for our convenience.
That being said, I loved our auto rock n play from day one. We used the crap out of that thing. In fact, I have to get a new one. We had a swing but my first never cared for it and we never got a bouncer.
If you're planning on breastfeeding, I loved the Lansinoh hot/cold breast therapy packs. Cold was glorious for engorgement, and warm was helpful for clogged ducts and increasing output on the pump. I buy these for all my new mom friends who are breastfeeding.

FishChicks, I am thrilled for you and will continue to send good thoughts!
goodygumdrop, do you have anyone who can lend you some stuff, even just to try? I had a ton of containment devices (auto RnP, PnP, swing, bouncer, baby box) and was lucky that DS pretty much tolerated anything and was a chill baby, but most of those we received as gifts and bought the swing secondhand. Obviously we have all of that to use with #2, but if I didn't, I definitely wouldn't drop money on all of it because babies can be finicky about what they like. As an illustration, DS was the opposite of pooh8402's experience and loved the swing, but was meh about the RnP. Since we didn't pay for it, it didn't bother me, but I hate HATE feeling like I wasted money, so I'd start small and add things as needed.
