I was a loooooooongtime lurker on Jezebel. I only posted a couple of times, but ended up meeting some of those ladies IRL during the 08 DNC in Denver. I'm still friends with a couple of them on Facebook.
TB was my first message board, but I met my husband on MySpace. ( officially. We never actually tell people that:)
Fun! I was super jealous that Jezzie commenter PoliticalPartyGirl got to work that DNC. She even met HillDawg.
I'm pretty sure met her! (I no longer remember screen names) I was jealous too. I was super 'involved' in that election and all of the Jezebel commentary around it, as it was one topic I felt really comfortable posting on. Those ladies were awesome, but given that I was intermittently lurking while working, I could never pull it together enough to keep up with their speed/wit on other topics (and also actually do my job:) I loved lurking there though.

I met my husband in a chatroom. We never tell people that either. We just say that we met at a park and technically we did! It's just something we don't feel others need to know about and we don't want to be look down upon because of it.
Ha. I know the feeling. Our running joke is that we have so many various "how we met" stories (all lies) that whenever someone asks, we have this long awkward pause while we stare at each other thinking "which version of our lies shall we tell this time?"
I too used ICQ (12718223!!) and met my very first bf there. I was in grade 9 and he was in grade 12. It did not last all that long, but I did get to go to prom.
I used to post on chat rooms back in early HS, but I don't remember which ones. I had 2 SNs that I'd use, Lyra and Vega, both with different personalities. One was much more outgoing. I used to make bets with myself about how quickly I could gain control of the room.
As for forums, I didn't start those until I joined TK back in '08. I was a loooong time P&E lurker and posted there a little. After the wedding I was the mod of GIS for a while and joined up with the girls in SB (I think they're on PB now?). I moved to TN and would consider myself a reg on H&F, but stopped posting when they moved to PB/I had a baby. I'm hoping to jump back in there!
I still talk daily with the girls from my wedding club board on TK. We'te on FB now, but we're still a close group. 2 of them are good IRL friends.
Besides my ICQ/AOL life, I used to own some 50 year old men in a yahoo chatroom called "A God(s) Fight" as a highschooler. If anyone there had any knowledge of theology, they could have destroyed me. Luckily they didn't. Then I took a break from internet life and this board was my next stop
I'm 32, so it was early HS for me when we had AOL in the mid 90's. Loved those chat rooms and I too wish that my email told me, "You've Got Mail!" I've had the same Hotmail address since Hotmail was created in 1996. Lame-O, I know, but it's almost part of my identity now I've had it so long. I remember ICQ, but never participated since AOL IM kept me entertained. I used to love the noises your friend list made when buddies came and went. Ahhh....the good ole days. Oh yeah, my DH and I met on eHarmony.
Let's see... I started with AOL chat rooms as "JessiDuck" in elementary school. Junior high was spent more on MMORPG's than other online communities. I moved on to things live Xanga and Livejournal in high school. I was an active participant and admin of a hamster loving community and Nookbay (a trading website for the Nintendo DS game Animal Crossing), and started venturing into MySpace and Facebook in college. I briefly explored Twitter and didn't get it. I got pretty deep into TK while wedding planning and TB while preparing for Evie. In between, I like to fill in with the Cheezburger sites and other meme collections.
ETA: I also did a 365 blog of our first year of marriage! A post and a picture for every day of our first year. Now I have a blog that documented my pregnancy weekly and Evelyn's development monthly.

I have never confessed this on any board before...but I was a regular on alt.gothic for a while and even went to a Convergence.
I also had and used my LJ for about a decade, still read my FL a couple times a year, and met a LOT of people from LJ IRL.
I was on another site for a while whose name I'm not even going to mention. You can't see anything on the site unless you're a member. It's a social networking site, but it isn't myspace or facebook. If you know about it, you're probably a member. If you don't know about it, you probably don't want to know and might be weirded out that I'm on there. I hung out with people from that site right up until I was pregnant and still check in every so often. I went to a couple meetups related to that site, as well. If you read Savage Love, you might have heard it mentioned and wondered WTF it was...but like I said, if it isn't your thing, you probably never bothered to look into it.
I was introduced to old school chat via bulletin boards called isca in 95 in college. I wasted entirely too much time chatting. I also met my husband online in 2009.
I was guild leader of a top 150 worldwide guild on world of Warcraft. We had many servers firsts achievements, over 300 members, etc. I also recorded every kill from our raids and would edit them all fun like. I also rocked a legendary weapon that took months to build. We raided upwards 25+ hours a week. Yea, I'm not necessarily proud of it all but it is what it is. My h and I quit shortly before C was born.

I was on an Insane Clown Posse message board since 1999. I still post occasionally there when I have time, and I love the people I've met through it fiercely. Some of them became some of most loyal friends. I flew out to California twice to meet one friend and stay with him, Chicago for another. They're my friends on facebook, too and some of the nicest people ever. I had upwards of 60k posts there, because it was a big part of my life. I also had an LJ, and I still have it, and I still post in it. That LJ helped see me through deployments, bad breaks ups, depression etc. I don't think I'll ever give it up. I have no shame in my internet game. I've met tremendous people around the country I wouldn't have otherwise met.
My Internet days started young. At 11 (1993) I discovered message boards, but only posted a few things here and there as the message boards were not frequented by children in those days, and I could barely spell and I also used ALL CAPS as a trademark until someone told me it was Internet-impolite. I feel like people were a lot kinder to each other on the internet back then. Shortly thereafter I was on Prodigy, which was an early email / chat / browser system (like AOL). I was full-blown addicted to that until I was about 15 when they started charging by the minute a long distance fee for Canadian users. I moved over to AOL, but didn't like it. At that point ICQ and Messenger were becoming more popular and My real life friends were using them so I stopped talking to people I didn't know and just focused on my real life buds.
I stayed off chat rooms for the most part after that, except one night when I was awake and bored. That's when I met my DH on a local chat room.
I haven't been active on message boards or chat rooms until I started ttc and I remembered about the bump. Though back when Big Brother was pretty new I used to heavily frequent their chat and I feel badly now because I think I had a pretty big hand in the "Chen-Bot" name calling. I since learned that that really hurt Julie Chen's feelings. I like Julie Chen and didn't realize that she would a) know what a few chat nerds were saying about her and b) care.

I used to feel the same way. I was mortified to tell people that DH and I met online, but I found that once I told one or two people and didn't get the reaction I had anticipated, it was easier to tell other people. Now I'm open about it and I find that everyone really doesn't care or thinks it's neat.
DH and I have a very strong and happy relationship, we've been together for seven years. If someone has the balls to look at our marriage and frown at the way me met, I'd be happy to point them in the direction of couples who met conventionally and yet are having marital discord.

ISCA! That's what I was on but I couldn't remember the name! I was 11, how inappropriate was that?!

OMG, I totally forgot that I used to play DDO NON-STOP. I loved that game, it was my first MMO and I knew nothing about DD, but I found that a female voice goes a long way in getting assistance and free stuff.

I love Savage Love! But all I'm thinking of is stuff like Grindr and Adult Friend Finder.

LOL! I was not masquerading as a gay man on grindr!
